It is a moral outrage and national disgrace that civilians can legally purchase weapons designed to kill people with brutal speed and efficiency.

Who knew the Bill of Rights were morally outrageous?

The first step in real gun control which means elimination to the extent possible is a change in public attitudes about gun ownership. It has to reach the level of acceptance as public smoking. The media is key and as more and more outlets take a negative tone, public opinion can be shifted. The power of the media to influence attitudes is immense still. Look at gay marriage, for example. Today it's the Times, tomorrow its the sitcoms knocking guns, then the talk shows, and eventually a gun owner is a societal pariah. It's coming.

Those weapons take away from your freedom, as it is now easier to get shot then to win one of the Multi-State Lotteries.
From a gun owner.

Reader's guide to understanding the The NY Times.

Diversity - Failure to assimilate, or selective segregation.

Multiculturalism - Cultural enrichment through national suicide.

Progressiveness - Progress through perversity.

How can there be a gun turn-in in NYC. There are no guns there-there already strong gun control laws, handguns are effectively prohibited now.
