Obama will nominate a strong and popular minority judge with such impeccable experience and credentials that the Republicans will once again bite off their noses to spite their obstructionist faces.
If it serves to preserve the Constitution, I'm good with that. Obama should be doing the same, but many of us are well-aware of how Obama has violated his Oath of Office...

I'm most certain that I understand this better than you and most people as it is my job. I am a constitutional lawyer. I spend the better half of my day interpreting the application and intent of the constitution as it was when written and in the modern day.
It's a shame that you are so misguided from reality. My suggestion is to do your own research and don't just believe everything you hear from the peanut gallery.

No insult intended, I'm sure you know your stuff but, as we have seen with Obama and his admin, being a Constitutional lawyer doesn't carry much weight anymore.

No, they shouldn't. I would not want to see the Democrats resort to the childish and petty politics practiced by the current GOP.
I am n independent, so don't bother trying to make it about me. It a fairly important task so ensure the Supreme Court has the 9 members (as opposed to an even number), and if the Senate obstructs the process for almost a full year, then they only confirm what people have been saying all along, that they are the most partisan Congress ever. If they refuse to do their duty, then the people will elect people who will. It is election year after all.
If the Congress refuses to do their duty, they will in effect prevent the full function of all three branches of government.
I don't think I read the same sentiment from you when reid blocked over 300 bills.
Or when reid REUSED to offer a budget, much less submit one, reid, "A budget, we don't NEED a budget".
If you are going to take a position, at least be consistent.

I don't see a delay working, there are too many important issues to wait that long. Some would rather see a dysfunctional government than allow an Obama appointment. If they take that route the house, senate and president will all be democratic come November.
It would be quite a bit longer than a year, new president in January 2017, choose an appointee and then the vetting.
Sure, Obama should nominate a replacement. He should do it after careful thought and consideration. Somehow I think he has another Sotomayor ready to go.
