What is the source of funding subsidy for this new construction?
Local corporate and/ or property taxes or something else?

I do not have a first hand appreciation for distance and availability of public transportation in this area.

I do know people who work in DC and Manhattan with daily commutes in excess of 2 hours each way and who do so for a more affording housing and/ or quality of life.
Same thing happens in the Chicago area. The Metra (mass transit rail) system has lines going in all directions North, South, and West of the lake, and are heavily used.

Subsidized housing may actually make sense.

People often work in other cities. Subsidies only drive prices higher.

No, it isn't. GIVING people money they didn't already have is a subsidy. People keeping their own money isn't a subsidy.

What is a 'Subsidy'

A subsidy is a benefit given by the government to groups or individuals usually in the form of a cash payment or tax reduction. The subsidy is usually given to remove some type of burden and is often considered to be in the interest of the public.

Are you sure you want to go with that? If so, EVERYONE who doesn't pay the 35.7% total federal effective tax rate the top 0.1% pays is getting subsidies. Clearly, some are getting A HELL OF A LOT MORE in subsidies than others.

Total effective federal tax rates, including payroll taxes, etc.:

Its not a case of whether I want to go with that or not. It is the definition of the word. Yes there are lots of subsidies in the Federal Tax System.

All nearly exclusively given to everyone in the bottom 99%. So what's all the absurd and seriously under-informed hand-wringing and whining about high-income earners "not paying their fair share?" The bottom 99% are getting subsidies the top 1% ISN'T getting.

Apparently, both Hillary and Bernie are way too stupid to know that.

Or they're playing a HUGE amount of Dem voters for the fools they are.

And my point is that the Boston economy is booming and more people are coming than we have housing for, pushing the cost of living up and resulting people turning their front yards into condos to meet the demand - 8 feet of snow in a month or not. On a smaller scale, Buffalo and Pittsburgh are on the upswing, too.

Weather doesn't outweigh the economy.
