Get educated. Republicans support LIHTC quite strongly.

NAHB Members and Federal Legislators Unite in Support of BUILD-PAC | NAHB Now | The News Blog of the National Association of Home Builders

In Irvine, Calif., four California members of Congress – including representatives Ken Calvert (R-42), Paul Cook (R-08), Ed Royce (R-39), and Mimi Walters (R-45) – gathered to meet with NAHB members. And in San Diego, Calif., Rep. Darrell Issa (R-19) met with NAHB members to reiterate his support of housing initiatives in Congress.

Guess all those Republicans are all socialists. LOLOLOLOL

https://www.housingonline.com/2015/1...-credit-rates/

Congress voted to approve a tax and spending legislation that includes a permanent minimum 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credit rate for new construction and substantial rehabilitation and extends the New Markets Tax Credit through 2019. Unfortunately, the legislation does not include a credit floor for the 4% LIHTC.

And why are the majority of complaints about Whites coming from the Left?

Everyone is racist. Everyone is merely angling for the best position for their group. Racial grievances against "Whites" are wholly racist in nature.

Even conceiving of your minority group as somehow a group rather than a false conglomerate of individuals is racist. Stop pretending otherwise. You scream racist when it is convenient for you and act racist when it is advantageous. No one cares anymore, and the gravy train is going to end shortly. Either succeed or die without successful children. It'll be up to you, and there won't be any more grievance industry.

Redlining
Segregation
Housing Laws (enforced and/or endorsed by local, state, and federal organizations)
Inability for black people to even apply for a mortgage (it was illegal/not allowed in many areas, including in Chicago)
Lack of ability to use GI bills or FHA program by black veterans post WW2
Threat of violence by white mobs (whites frequently attacked or harassed black people who dared move to their neighborhoods)

You need to read up on the history of our country IMO.

Also, as stated earlier in the thread. The housing authority will not build "slums." They will be building high end communities with salt water pools like we did in Atlanta.

Not only poor people will live in those communities and you probably wouldn't even know that the community was funded by the government.

FWIW a large percentage of new multi-housing developments are government subsidized via tax credits. Usually those locations have a few "project based units" for low and very low income individuals and/or families.
Yes, yes, you're 'ignorant' too. Who taught you your logic? Someone else. And your pseudo-logic will be taken from you.

No one is going to give you a dime for "history" in the near future. You are rent seeking and are resented for it. You are rent seeking because you cannot make it on your own. No one else is paid for history that had nothing to do with them as an individual; other people have had it less hard and harder than your direct ancestors; and no one else is given so much rent in return. Enjoy it while it lasts, but don't come into a public space attempting to pseudo-educate people with your rent seeking logic and appeals to "history". No one cares. Just say "give me this". It'll be more honest.

I just love how some of you put your hang-ups on everyone else so as to make your own sentiments seem as if they're the norm or they're alright.

No, everyone is NOT racist. YOU are racist perhaps, but don't put that on everyone else. Own your own b.s. and claim it. Don't be a weasel.

Being condescending towards minorities and acting as if they are so helpless is also a sign of racism.

My Uncle had a property he was renting and because of the property location section 8 was the most likely candidate. He fixed it up when he bought it, after the first tenants left he had to do an extensive amount of work again. The second time around same thing happened. He fixed the problem by getting out of the rental business, sold it to some slumlord that wasn't going to take the time to fix it up and just collect the check.

The only weasels are the ones who use their race to try to make an easy life for themselves.

You know, I never hear Hispanics or Asians whining about race EVER. My neighbor can still barely speak English but he speaks his own language well enough to raise 6 wonderful kids who will never hurt anyone and will actually do nothing but HELP people.

Might be a radical concept for you I'm sure. They mind their own business and they work hard. They've been in this country for 30 years and they have EARNED their own respect without ever ASKING for it.

So call me a racist if I pack up and move the hell out of the neighborhood at the first sign of a dumbass from the inner city who wears his hat sideways, has never had a job and will certainly start breaking into houses and much worse within days of arriving.

Yet, I have NO PROBLEM with the differences that these Asians bring who certainly look completely different than me. In fact, they ask me to watch their houses for them when they are out of town. We are friends because we have something in common, we are Americans and we love our homes and our families.

I have NOTHING in common with these idiots from the inner city who are just out to take advantage, do not care about building a family or a future for anyone but their own little, stupid desires. I have dogs smarter than that.

I'm so sick of this race CRAP.

I am indifferent about their plans. I'd have to see more of what they are going to do to decide whether or not I support them.

However, as stated, I worked in this industry for many years. Due to that, I have more knowledge than most about the outcomes of these initiatives. I do feel they are "social engineering" and I feel they have both good and bad features. Knowing what I know, I cannot wholly agree or disagree with the efforts.

I will note that like NOI stated, conservatives are VERY supportive of LIHTC properties so to have a conservative media rag complain about it based on racial features of the intended residents is hypocritical IMO. Conservatives are the main ones who backed this sort of housing initiative in an effort to decrease crime caused by concentrated poverty. As stated above, many studies over the past 25 years show that these programs do indeed meet many of the goals that they set out to accomplish in regards to deconcentrating poverty, lowering crime, and the educational outcomes of former public housing children. One cannot place the entire credit for these outcomes on the LIHTC and project based units, MTW (moving to work), and expanded HCV (housing choice voucher/Section 8) initiatives, but again, they have proven successful.

These new developments are also very high end as was mentioned earlier and especially in places where public housing used to be, they totally transform an area and whites usually move into traditional black neighborhoods causing gentrification as a result of the cleanup. These programs actually cause more diversity of white people in an area versus black and IMO the OP article's posting about 1000 residents moving to the suburb out of the tens of thousands of public housing residents in Baltimore is much ado about nothing.
