Here's the thing about race in this country:
Bruce Jenner decides to become a woman and gets wall to wall media coverage and an ESPY. This woman decides she wants to be black and people lose their $hit. One can not be any more bizarre or more conventional, depending on your point of view, than the other.
"...Dolezal inked a deal with the independent publisher BenBella Books, which is in Dallas and describes itself as “a publishing boutique.”
They say right on their website that they offer a non-traditional arrangement, paying “relatively modest advances ($5K-$10K).” So, basically, she’s one level up from self-publishing. No crime, to be sure. But not exactly a blockbuster book deal for the ages either."
She had lied about racist incidents in her life and there is evidence that she staged some of it. Everyone should condemn that.
However, on another note...she compares herself to Caitlyn Jenner. If Caitlyn can change her gender away from what her DNA made her and be socially accepted, why can't Rachel change her race away from what her DNA made her and be socially accepted?

She could I suppose if black people accepted her as black.

But they don't. So she can't.
Do all women have to accept Caitlyn as a woman for her to be a woman? If we look down at those who discourage Caitlyn from identifying against her genes, why shouldn't we also support Rachel?
