First two are valid enough points - speeding tickets I consider very much a discretionary expense.

The real questions are:

Why aren't Business/Personal Finance classes mandatory the way dumbed-down common core math and LGBTXYQ tolerance classes are mandatory?

Yes, we can put some of the blame on individuals for being willfully ignorant about their own money.

We can also blame US government for making credit waaaay too easy to get and misleading borrowers the true cost of their being in perpetual debt to banks.

We can blame the public education system for not teaching kids personal finance along with their anti-American history classes.

We can blame parents for not teaching their kids about money but fact is, many parents are as financially illiterate as their kids. They too, are the products of bad public education.

It's a vicious cycle.

Ironically, the writer of that article is the eipitome of so-called 'white privilege' and not even he can scrounge up $400? Which begs the next question:

Why do liberals send their children to expensive private schools? Do they believe they're so much better than the free, minority-majority community high school down the street from where they live? They are part of the inequality problem.

They'll be able to afford that 400 bucks once we all get that 2500 dollar savings from Obamacare that Chicago Jesus promised...

Well the fact is whether someone has the funds to visit the ER or not, As long as they show up at the ER and request treatment they will be treated with without hesitation.

Curious as to the validity of what the article categorizes as 'Americans'. Legal citizens or does the source assume anyone in the ER is an American? Also there's certainly a subset that once stitched up may simply say the don't have any money regardless of their financial situation.

No one has ever been turned away or had to cough up funds prior to receiving treatment in an ER (AND THAT IS ONE OF THE MANY THINGS THAT MAKES AMERICA THE GREATEST NATION IN THE WORLD).

Please no more tears until stipend deductions are mandatory/ sign here or die on the curbside is in full effect.

That's apples and oranges. Families don't need 2 jobs in the household because of tech innovation. They need 2 jobs because the dollar has lost over 90% of its value since the inception of the Federal Reserve.

Nooo. Too many charlatans out there even now because the FDA does not have enough people to inspect.

You are a good man IC but seriously there are too many no goods out there.

Is this a trick question? Banks and credit card companies hate people who are smart with money and their lobbyists have deep pockets. I for one would be quite happy if the kids did fewer trigonometry (do they do trigonometry these days?) and more compound-interest problems, but...

Hey, we agree on something!

You appear to think the rest of the first world doesn't have an equivalent to the FDA?
