You should stop arguing with me, by the way. I haven't said anything that is not from the bottom of my heart. Just try to share some of my personal perspective, no more no less.
I wonder..., if one person's perception or if general perception is that your comments are not well justified or substantiated, would that mean the reality is that your comments are not well justified or substantiated?

Not trying to be cute here, but I think people do tend to think "perception is reality" as if whatever their perception might be, the actual truth of these matters is not as important. That sort of "perception," or inclination tends to lead to more misinformation, spreading of unfounded propaganda and myth, half-truths that only further makes the truth all that much harder to distinguish.

All I said is that because this war is still very personal to a lot of people, many might view this as an apology tour. Not me personally, but I won't blame them if they do feel this way.

Healing starts when anger is also addressed. All I am saying is that I UNDERSTAND if people are angry because they perhaps have lost loved ones in war.

Many chose to heal the pain in silence.

can you move on now? did I say this is a nice gesture? what else do you need? sheesh
It appears that you have forgotten that you keep posting that his speech is opening a can of worms, why get defensive when someone asks what you mean? I might add that you haven't answered the question.

Well, maybe someday, you can figure this out yourself.

Why would I do that when you could answer what can of worms you mean. It shouldn't be difficult.

I always find it interesting when a person is asked to explain something they said, some can't seem to do it. I wonder why that is.

Anyway, lovely speech by the president, I'm glad so many over there were moved by it.

by the way, please stop using the word "idiotic" it is not a good debate strategy.
This didn't open a can of worms except to the extreme right, a trip to Hiroshima was long overdue. Time for nations to move forward and learn lessons from the past to make the world a better place. You heard his speech (I hope), what is the issue, even WW2 veterans from both sides meet at Pearl Harbor what gives these people the right to criticize the president.

He also visited Vietnam, do you take issue with that also. Vietnamese civilians were killed in that world also, can of worms?

Maybe I'm wrong and/or maybe I'm not clarifying as you would agree, but it sure seems from your comments that you are critical of Obama and this tour for whatever reason. For example that "many might view this as an apology tour." There's the crux of the issue, as somewhat expressed by the start of this thread and/or the person who started this thread.

Would that be fair?

If so, I disagree with you, because especially at this time when we probably can't hear enough the words ACTUALLY spoken by Obama, that "tour" and his words do far more good than harm. I think that's true no matter how many people may perceive otherwise, because always there are many people who can't perceive their left from their right. Can't do anything about those people and those people are not the ones who are important to consider when it comes to the truth of these matters.

Right?

With that said, I perceive a three-day holiday weekend coming up that I'd like to start enjoying, with equal respect for those who died in these wars on behalf of future Americans that will also hopefully think hard about the truths of these matters. A good holiday weekend to you and yours whether we perceive reality exactly the same or not...
