I have no issues with huge profits, but Wal Mart pays minimum wage even though they make 19 billion USD in profits. There has to be a balance.
I am 100% in favor of capitalism, but the good capitalists have a sense of honor and know when they are accumulating excessive wealth. At that point the company is treated like a team where everybody feels needed and welcomed. There is no need to enter the exploitation zone for the sake of business principles. I get your point, but obviously you do not get the point of providing workers with decent benefits that can lead to a better more healthy lifestyle.
How much vacation can you take every year?
ANY wage (minimum wage included) is partly a reflection of the value an employee returns to the organization. $19B in profit or $19T in profit doesn't matter, thats looking at things backwards, your (sorry to say it) but least skilled or lowest skilled employees are easily replaced and in general are not going to generate huge improvements to the profit that the company makes.
Should a company compensate their employees fairly? Yes...but I don't think that just because a company has huge profits, they should be forced to doll them out as salary to a certain segment of worker. The minimum wage job at WalMart or most other places was never meant to be a career position for mature and educated adults, we have a horrible economy that is forcing those people into such situations but that is not because Walmart doesn't pay enough.
It reminds me of people who were abused by their parents and grow up being attracted to partners who treat them like crap, because that's what they're used to.

I don't care that these folks are untalented or have little skills. You entirely miss the point. At some point excessive profit or wealth becomes redundant. That is why the richest people in the planet (with few exceptions) are generous with their profits. Bill Gates is the greatest socialist in the world. You are blinded by your ideology and fail to see the issue.

All you do is recite the memorized verses of greedy corporate America. I am going to assume you are a CEO and not a worker. How much vacation you get a year? IS the salary you get at the level of your intellect and talents?
There are many European countries where they work short hours and are vastly productive. Germans are well under 30 hours a week and have a better lifestyle that YOU. Nevertheless, you defend your employer's decision to make you work long hours and provide you with a few days off a year. Are you rationalizing your position in the company? Do you truly believe you are valued? Let me tell you a secret: Denial is not a river in Egypt. German and Dutch workers have a better lifestyle that YOU.
Yes, I do believe I bring value to the companies that employ me. Otherwise, I would have been fired, and rightly so.
I am thrilled for the Germans. Glad they are happy with their form of government and their dependence on the government to mandate the terms of their employment.
I'll stick with the benefits and drawbacks of a system where government intervention into private industry is NOT the goal.
They work much less than you and have more leisure. They are not as stressed as you are and they have three to four times more free time than you do.
I know you love your large truck, but free time is priceless.
