I wonder what would happen if I walked into my local recruiters office dressed as a wizard and vehemently claiming that I was a real wizard? I mean, what if I genuinely felt like a wizard, like I should have been born a wizard? Would I get in?
Same as Rachel Dolenzal going into the recruiters office and claiming she's black. In a Liberal Progressive mind its true! The libs are nuts and they're running the show.

That is a question being quietly discussed. I think it depends on who is president.

Good point The military shouldn't be tied to affirmative action type hiring practices. Why not, you ask? Well, what about overweight people? Old people? Blind? The military does indeed discriminate when it hires. The requirements are implemented for a reason. The qualifications are set for entry, and for specific branches, and specific jobs. There would be ZERO benefits to the military to allow a trans person to join.

Forget how many days are required but Obama is pushing through a last batch of these various rule changes now in order to avoid them being vetoed/invalidated by the next POTUS or Congress.

Ryan has sent the House home and Senate soon followed on recess which remains until after the July 4th holiday. With a gay man heading the Army and others pro-this move in equally high places probably the best shot those against have in stopping is to get the House/Congress to step in.

If a private sector employer used the ASVAB, the feds would be all over that company for the disparate impact it would create.

There are still gender restrictions as well as gender based physical fitness standards. The physiology of Transgender person, without hormone therapy, is still that of the person biological gender.

Is military going to pay for the hormone treatment?

Plus, Military culture maintains distinct sub-cultures (known as Branches of Service) that have unwritten sets of rules. For example, gold wing pinning ceremony, some say it is hazing, some say it is an honorable tradition of the gold wing members. Just because somebody "joined", doesn't mean this person can really be "accepted."

Thats right When you join the military you must check your ego at the door. There is no I in team. Thats a big problem in our society. All these labels (conservative, liberal, gay, etc.) how about identifying as an American?
