Sorry..But equating something said some decades ago..does NOT compare on how the Country has evolved over those decades..Even Obama evolved as did VP Biden..So puleese having a UTD Republican declare war on LBGT and Gay marriage that of which Some State ( GOP) Governments have already had their legislations being overturned as "Unconstitutional" given their reasoning to create such laws..Mostly to gain more POWER by Christians over any other "Belief" system..
GOP is not doing themselves any favours in "TODAY"S" society.. Ignorance on their part ..They want to go BACK in a time of ignorance..and claim "Righteousness" Give me a break
Decades? it was just a few short years Democrats opposed the removal of DADT, while the Republican, specifically the Log Cabin Republicans.. supported gay rights..

Decades.. please..
Then why is overturning same sex marriage currently a part of the Republican platform?
See my post above. They still propose an amendment returning control to the states, which would empower them to prohibit SSM.
Regardless of one's personal opinion on SSM, such a move would throw us right back in the legal mess we had, with couples whose marriages were valid in some states but not others. That played havoc in our mobil society.
I think you're right.
And I don't think that amendment would win either.
Its easy to just make things up and claim "sources"..
in the end, its just made up **** for the stupid left to eat up for the story..
Well, according to the Republican Party, this is part of their current platform -
"We recognize and honor the courageous efforts of those who bear the many burdens of parenting alone, even as we believe that marriage, the union of one man and one woman must be upheld as the national standard, a goal to stand for, encourage, and promote through laws governing marriage."
The question is whether they're going to change it. The NYT is reporting that the current draft language is
"Our laws and our government’s regulations should recognize marriage as the union of one man and one woman and actively promote married family life as the basis of a stable and prosperous society. For that reason, as explained elsewhere in the platform, we do not accept the Supreme Court’s redefinition of marriage and we urge its reversal, whether through judicial reconsideration or a constitutional amendment returning control over marriage to states.â€"
The latest news coming out of the inner circles of the Republican Party is that it's platform committee will not be softening it's positions on issues important to the LGBT community. Historically the GOP has been hostile to gay rights in obedience to the evangelicals and social conservatives.
Republican legislators will be introducing a bill that will legalize discrimination against LGBT citizens by businesses and individuals based on one's religious beliefs. The bill will be introduced on July 12th, the month anniversary of the Orlando massacre at a gay nightclub.
Multiple sources are reporting a major Republican Party platform will endorse passing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to outlaw same sex marriages throughout all 50 states. This contradicts the claim of some Republican politicians who have stated that each state should decide it's own laws concerning same sex marriage. Sen. Ted Cruz (R - Texas) has already drafted a bill to begin the passage of a constitutional amendment limiting marriage to opposite sex individuals.
I don't doubt what you said is true but it's not something that Trump or any organized Republican effort would initiate changing anything. I consider this some scraps tossed....Dems do the same to their extremists.

Thats the exact same position both Clinton, and Obama held just a few short years ago.
"Earlier Monday morning subcommittees voted for amendments that call for to the Bible being taught in schools, and transgender people to use the restroom of the gender they were assigned at birth, and voted to keep a call for a ban on same-sex marriage in their 2016 national platform."

decades ago? Hillary said it in 2008 when she ran for President the first time, How is that decades ago?
It only shows she will pander for votes and will say anything to get elected.
"Earlier Monday morning subcommittees voted for amendments that call for to the Bible being taught in schools, and transgender people to use the restroom of the gender they were assigned at birth,
Alrighty, we're getting down to the nitty gritty.
GOP is now officially on record as supporting universal background checks for persons using restrooms while opposing background checks for persons buying AR-15s.
I can't shake the visual of how this would work in our local Walmart.
