Probably. It's known Merkel didn't really stand having to negotiate with Erdogan but had to.

Shots being fired on the Bosphorus in the meantime. Erdogan supporters taking to the streets and reacting.

Obama backed the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt which by its nature was a nightmare. I know that they were elected, but the Brotherhood was thrown out quick because they were Islamist madmen. If Obama had not agitated The "Arab Summer" nonsense the Brotherhood would not have had the power it acquired.

It kinda was although not the most effective solution it seems to have worked. The problem for the EU now is to stop migration from its southern borders and really fix the situation in Libya.
