You bring up a good point. Technology increases production to the point that less workers are need to operate the machinery or not needed at all.

Agreed it's about profit. A quality product for a fair price.

I don't think anyone is arguing this, but speaking of government, they are the problem when it comes to hurting the job market.

It's not going to be your daddy's factoriy employing low skilled masses under collective bargaining agreements.
2020 seems like too big a jump to overtake China so soon, but one never knows.

So it is disingenuous to argue that the number of people on foodstamps correlates to the population at large being better or worse off. Heck, there are colleges who tell students to sign up for food stamps to supplement their meal plans or to help out their parents. There are people with full time jobs who qualify for food stamps as well.
Again the number of people on food stamps has been steady at an all time high levels the past few years

Of course the number of those on food stamps correlates to the population being better or worse off. The more government assistance there is the worse the economy is. The reason people need food stamps is because the economy isn't doing well. No one in their right mind would think otherwise.
The higher paying jobs aren't available, hence more on food stamps. Gee that took some brain work to figure out.

Prices rising, wages stagnant at best. To say otherwise is one of the most absurd things I've read on here. Quit posting about anything to do with economics when you obviously don't understand the basics.

Obamabots are delusional.

Only conservatives can run the economy well. They do that by staying out of it for the most part. It has been proven time and time again that the free market works best for the economy.

The big government dems want our money for their causes, the big government repubs want our money for their cause. neither party cares about results. They just care about lining their own pockets.

Hillary is the scum of the earth.

That's quite the stretch, there. What happened to the conservatives who applauded a person for working and contributing something to our society as opposed to living on welfare?

Go get me another beer will you.

Thanks.

And then go cry on your mothers shoulder about how you can't make it happen for yourself. Blame someone. Blame the president. Under no circumstances DO NOT take responsibility for your own shortcoming.

The loser generation........

A big part of the blame goes to the generation that elected the economic "wizards" in Congress who thought manipulating the free market in Housing would be a good thing. Set people up for failure and you can bet many will fail.

Price of homes is going up because supply is limited and cost of rent is going up. In my city, the monthly payment on a 30-yr mortage of a 700-sqft condo would be around $1300 month if the same unit as an apartment was $2000/month.

Travel and vacation spending is probably up because prices are up and because consumers nowadays value "experiences" over "stuff".

I didn't know car sales are up, but I bet it has something to do with the fact that one can finance a car at nearly 0%.

Construction is a boom-and-bust industry.

Awesome thread and hilarious at the same time, mwahahaha

Damn straight, let that leftist girly-man Obama and his rabid/low-information Obama followers know the TRUTH about his crappy Obama economy. I mean who can survive on such low paying $8/hour jobs?? Seriously now, Obama has a lot of splainin' to do for the widespread poverty and despair that is now afflicting America. Obama is guilty and has NO excuse for his utter failure regarding the economy.

Obama says: " hey look at that, X amount of jobs were created in August!"

..... yeah, low-paying retail/fast food/waiter poverty jobs

I thought Obama was going to bring us "change"? So much for his campaign-trail BS

All you're going to have left after paying your bills are "change". Maybe that's what he meant.
