It's not a PSA. It's an advertisement designed and propagated solely for the purpose of selling something.

Yes informing young people and parents of the dangers of a potentially lethal virus that people did not know about. Is there a problem with that? Making money while saving people's lives?

What exactly do you not like about it? they're not selling cigarettes which was terribly harmful

It's not a PSA. It's an advertisement designed and propagated SOLELY for the purpose of selling something.

So selling something which helps people is bad? How else would people know about it?

Issues like that should be handled like a public service announcement, not a guilt trip manipulation.

Well that is one way, however the campaign was really successful....and after all it's about saving a kids life so a little guilt is a good thing. Often in the hospital we have to choose the best choice amongst listed choices. I think the ad gets the attention of the kid and the kid says "hey mom dad have you seen this". Its not "pure" but it worked and after all....who won? The kids.

Advertisers commonly use fear and guilt as tools for manipulating public opinion and spending habits. Here's the advertising manual written by the "Father of Public Relations", also the nephew of Sigmund Freud.

“The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country.”—Edward Bernays, Propaganda

My GYN said the vaccine was garbage.

Said it could be useful in 3rd world counties, but is useless here and even. harmful because women who have it than behave irresponsibly thinking that they are *protected* and consequently will get more STDs.

Obviously, the pharma industry is not necessarily interested in promoting sexual responsibility.
