Why does everyone REALLY care if blacks have our own institutions and organizations (e.g. BET, UNCF, Black History Month, HBCUs, BLM award shows etc)? I ask this based on what I'm reading on this site and what I'm seeing lately on TV and in my own life. A large percentage of other races want NOTHING to do w/ us so why is it that when we decide to give them what they want they claim we are self-segregating?
You have whites who will literally pull their children out of schools when the black population gets to be 20%, they will sell their homes when they see they have a black neighbor, they will even start their OWN school systems separate from the county so that their children do not have to go to school with black kids but will then complain about a "black college" (HISTORICALLY black college/university). Do TWI's(Traditionally White Institutions) not exist? Also, wasn't it whites that at one time made segregation a LAW? With that in mind, why do you care so much that a black person gets on here asking about a "black middle class neighborhood"?
Also why is it that no one complains about Telemundo, Univisioin, or Galavision where the content is not even in English? No one bats an eye at that (take note Stacey Dash!).
Asians and Pacific Islanders have several of their own organizations, programs, etc geared towards their empowerment (including their own scholarship fund and LGBT club) but no one says that that's racist or segregationist.
Note: I'm not going to just black whites because there are many other minorities that don't want a thing to do w/ blacks either and mind you they may even be going through the same boat but will turn their nose up at a black person.
With that in mind, why is it suddenly a problem when we decide not to care?
P.S. you can take this however you want. Take it as a rant or take it as an interesting discussion. I really do not care at this point because the bulk of you certainly don't care about offending me.

Well I care about the "underclass" and the people committing crimes if they burn down a city, loot stores, hurt people because:
a) Burning a city down does nothing positive for anyone, and it sets ideas in to morons' heads that they should go burn their own cities. (As has happened, exactly.)
b) You and I and everyone else will pay for the looting with higher prices...businesses will always pass that cost on.
c) I give a damn when someone hurts an innocent person who has nothing to do with whatever anger the perpetrator is experiencing. We should all care when there is violence.
And I care when people act like none of that is important, do nothing to fix it, but demand that whip cracking whitey pay them.

Oh, I know, you're not asking for "segregation", you're just asking for your own banks, businesses, schools, etc. Damn if that doesn't sound like segregation to me. It solves nothing. It causes problems. How many people fought against it, how many died because of it, and you have the damn nerve to ask why is it so bad to be segregated? GTFO here!

I'm not asking that segregation be mandated by law, last time I checked, it wasn't blacks that made it a law. That said, I would like to see more of our communities (I'm black) thriving and that would include banks, restaurants, event halls, etc. You have Chinatowns, Little Italies, Little Koreas, etc but unfortunately I don't know of too many predominantly black communities that are flourishing.
That said, my post is a reaction to what I'm seeing.
Try starting a White Student Union on any college campus.
See how far you get.
If it were started for like a specific ethnic group such as German, Italian, Irish....that would not be an issue. Blacks, OTOH, well the majority of us do not know what our actual origin is so we are all lumped together.
