Republicans are quite bitterly opposed to UHC. So let's get with the Republican Health Care Plan, which is DON'T GET SICK. If that plan fails you, then just declare medical bankruptcy.

I have NEVER defended the (D)'s on either of these things. I have condemned both parties and those who only want to blame one side.
I don't care WHAT you did in the past or how many times.

You SPECIFICALLY targeted the repubs, " but they (repubs, Bush, etc.) are for wasting billions in Afghanistan and Iraq" so I responded to that target attack.

If you DON'T want to called out on things DON'T ONLY attack one side.

Donna wants death panel.....oh my allah. PD death panels are already here.
Is that how Medicare works? Single payer? If so, do you know of lots of retired people who want to get rid of Medicare, because government single payer health care is killing them?

Instead of just towing the line, why not just sit a minute a think about it... ask some professionals who work in the industry, and see if there is a way to make what exists work for people. I think they need to offer something - and make the Democrats reject the changes.

Because when ObamaCare fails, single payer legislation is in the on deck circle. It may be a better option for everyone to use their heads and make this work.

But Obama knows the GOP in Congress won't do that - which will quicken it's demise and usher in single payer. I don't think the Republicans in Congress have any other ideas once ObamaCare fails. And even if they did offer changes to what exists, Obama and the Dems would likely reject it. But I think they should go through with the process.

GOP rebuffs Obama's entreaties to fix health law

President Barack Obama on Thursday called for Republicans next year to pass legislation to repair Obamacare. The GOP response? No.

Democrats have long held out hope that with a new president, the political winds would shift, creating an opening to pass badly needed legislative repairs.

This is a failure on both sides... which means it is on all of us since we put them there.
1 point I missed earlier.

Where is Obama's plan, suggestions?

Where are the dem's plans, suggestions?

Have they EVER submitted ANYTHING to "fix" ANY of the problems?

Now we have major insurers withdrawing from the exchanges (as they are losing money), the middle class paying higher premiums, and an expansion of public aid, all at higher costs.

Thanks Obama!
Re healthcare insurers withdrawing from Obamacare:

The for profit, publicly- traded healthcare insurance industry has been contracting via mergers and acquisistions for more than 25 years. During this same timeframe insurers have been exiting the Individual Plan markets in targeting geographical locations within and across states. What typically follows a major merger and acquisistion are major changes to individual plans, reduced competition and substantial increases in premiums.

If one reads the transcripts of Hillary's testimony before Congress 25 years ago, one would think she was talking about right now.

Insurers have been opting out of unprofitable individual plan markets all along. Some states made the decision to subsidize insurers to remain. Some states made the insurers ability to write more lucrative large group and auto insurance policies conditional on remaining in the individual plan market. Now it's just easier to blame Obamacare.

The Big 5 Healthcare insurers intend to become the Big 3, via another round of mergers and acquisistions, pending DoJ approval. DoJ has challenged and in reaction the for profit insurers have withdrawn from the most unprofitable markets to kill Obamacare. How dare big government attempt to regulate for profit, publicly- traded, insurers' profits?

When 2 major insurers merge, competition is reduced and historically premiums increase.

When 2 major insurers merge, they eliminate redundant functions and processes and shed jobs.

When 2 major insurers merge they increase their investment in technology and shed jobs.

When 2 major insurers merge they combine admin/ support and offshore functions that can be performed anywhere in the world.

When 2 major insurers merge they use their combined muscle to reduce payments to hospitals and healthcare providers, such as yourself.

One could say all this is good because it will reduce the cost of premiums until you grasp the goal
of for profit, publicly- traded insurers is to increase shareholder value, not reduce the cost of premiums.

Even those with Obamacare can't afford to get sick because of the high deductibles and co-pays.

No I didn't. I deliberately targeted both parties. Anyone capable of reading can tell that.

How about we support the American plan? You know... the one where we respect the liberty of the individual?

You want socialism/communism, there are plenty of other countries out there that serve those ideals, so please go to them, but if you think you are going to change the core aspect and principals of this country and force us to comply?

Go ahead, apply that aggression and see what happens.

Why would someone who has paid into something their entire working lives want to get rid of it?

I would bet even then more probably would be O.K. with it if they knew that politicians weren't such self serving pieces of ****.

Because as a country we will always refuse to turn away the sick that made bad choices.

We have changed the core principles long ago. I touched on this earlier........TARP which was enacted under the Republicans was a massive Socialist program.
