It wasn't as widely known as Hitler's evils, but it should be part of a basic historical understanding that should be somewhat known. The educational system appears to be failing a lot of people.

Stalin had a couple of million citizens shot, purposely starved to death 3M+ in just 2 years, and all of that was before the Great Terror and WWII.

That's more than two orders of magnitude larger than all military and civilian deaths on all sides combined in the Iraq War. Stalin purposely starved to death 100x more people (by taking all their grain and cutting off their borders for 2 years) in 2 years than died in the Iraq War. He executed 10x as many people just during the Great Terror than died in the Iraq War from all causes.

26% is an enormous number to have get that wrong.
What country do you live in? I can ask Gen Xer's and even Boomers the same question and STILL get the same number who believe that Bush had more people killed than Stalin.

Perhaps you are unaware that the Dumbing Down of America has been going on for decades. Millenials are actually more informed on a variety of topics, not the least of which is politics, than both of the previous generations listed.

No he wasn't justified, not for a minute. This country cannot invade another sovereign nation based on a lie.

How is that any different than Hitler saying ethnic Germans were being killed along the Polish border when he invaded that country in 1939? Was Hitler justified in invading Poland?

Apparently you believe that the rules of engagement and the justification for full scale war don't apply to the United States.

Funny how lefty liberals only remember the parts of history that fit there agenda.

You are comparing apples to oranges with this line of rational.in 1998 Bill sent air power to Iraq and neutralized any conceivable threat Saddam posed, end of story.in 2003 George Bush knowing Saddam had no more WMD and a no fly zone covering Iraq decided to invade the country with 100000+ American troops culminating in a war that lasted 10 years.

Of course they're going to lie and say Bush killed more than Stalin.

You crack me up sometimes, you really do. Let's not pretend we're the paragon of honesty we think we are when we make blanket assumptions like I've bolded about a very diverse group of individuals, OK?

The first time I saw it publicized was a documentary done in Canada in 1985 "Harvest of Despair"
which was aired on PBS. The number of deaths range from 3-7+ million. It was a very difficult
film to watch.
Film-Harvest of Despair

N. Naimark comments in the video clip.
Stalin killed millions. A Stanford historian answers the question, was it genocide?

...and even though this genocide happened over 84 years ago, some still think it was a hoax.
Russia Denies Stalin

If people knew a smidgen of what History has to teach, could you imagine how much better off we would be as a nation.
Socialism, communism, is never forever.
Hell, Stalins daughter died while living in the USA after WW2..
Many other world leaders of despicable backgrounds have family here...

Let's be realistic here. Most millennials probably thought that Stalin is something they do when their mom tells them to clean their room

The report's results show you're wrong.

Boots on ground knew better than what Blix told the UN.. One day the truth will come out about WMD's in Iraq. Until then, believe a source such as Wikipedia..
And, real about the other reasons we went, plenty of other UN sanction violations.
Soon, Hillary will go after Iran and proceed to get us into WW3 in a more conventional way.. Stage is set.
