This last election was a repudiation of dynasties. Such as the Bush and Clinton dynasties. However they were tied to establishment politicians. The Trump dynasty is a whole other animal, as evidenced by their patriarch.

Hypocrites all.
and the eight years before that, leftists were relentlessly attacking everything bush and his family did, then when Obama came in they decided we were supposed to play nice, and that virtually all criticism of obama would be met with endless shrieks of 'racism!!!!'

hypocrites all.

I agree that Barron should not be forced to make public appearances - but this was a historic moment, and I can recall Amy Carter and Chelsea Clinton being very much present when their fathers were elected president. I don't remember Amy's demeanor, but Chelsea seemed delighted and elated and interacted with Clinton supporters by waving, etc. I think Amy Carter was a bit younger and Chelsea Clinton a year or two older than Barron is now. Girls tend to mature sooner than boys, of course, and each child is different.

Nor do we know what sort of preparation and explanations Barron was given. His father's victory was likely a surprise to all of the Trump family (though they'd never admit it). So, considering the hour - around 3:30 A.M., with little or no sleep, along with Barron's age and possible immaturity, shyness, or other personality traits, and the surprise ending of the campaign, and Barron's lack of apparent elation is not so surprising.

Just saw this on the MSN homepage. AP story posted two hours ago. Trump says he's moving to the White House 'soon', but his wife and young son will follow him at the end of the school year.

Time will tell. Trump says a lot of things.

I do feel sorry for the kid. Melania, not so much - I think she knew what she was marrying.

Oh for goodness sake. He's 10 years old. Leave him alone.

And, by the way, I said the same thing about the Obama kids.

Right..I have done it for my kids. Why should presidential kids not get the same treatment. They didn't chose this life.

Actually....I'm not a fan of any president exposing his minor (under age 18) children to a world audience. I believe kids should be protected.

I've known people who left their kids behind with neighbors or relatives until they finish the school year. My ex-husband's mother and stepfather left him alone when he was 16 and the stepfather was assigned to a new military base. In this case, the mother is staying with him. Do you know how quick the flight is from DC to NYC when the party in question has their own plane? We're talking approximately 4 months.
