All the hate against government workers and their pay packages is misdirected. It should instead be directed at the haters' own employers. Instead of saying, I don't get this, so x shouldn't get it either, ask your employer why you don't get it instead...
It's amazing to see the working class eating its own, isn't it?
I guess it's easier to pick on the weak than the strong. The 1% thanks you!
A President that refuses a Salary? A President that works for Middle America and NOT the "Elite Washington Insiders"? There is a new Play Book in Washington today and it is NOT to protect the Federal Worker Gravy Train.
Refuses a salary? How naive can you be? He can earn more every single day on average of his presidency by using the presidency as a vehicle to enrich his family than the entire salary he is given. He has investments in more than 18 countries and is ready to use the power of the oval office to get super rich. The "elite Washington insiders, lobbyists, donors and special interests are all given prime spots at the Trump table. The super rich are laughing their heads off.
I wonder how many of these govt workers voted Trump.
Not as little as many might believe here, I can tell you that. I worked for the govt and worked alongside them in the past and many of them are quite conservative. Many of these positions are also filled by vets, vets which often are also conservative and/or vote republican. I guess sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for.... you just might get it......

Good. Federal employees shouldn't be coddled. Let them operate in the real world for a change.
Look up what our congress makes and their benefits when they retire. Their health insurance seems to be intact because they have different rules than the rest of us. They are the ones who are coddled. Federal employees don't make anywhere near the money they make. Congress should be scrutinized because they are pretty much do nothing and spend most of their time trying to get relected.

A lot of them voted for Trump and were very vocal about it. We don't normally discuss politics at work, but this time, they were loud about it. Most were over 55 and male, but there was one woman, elderly, who thought he was the best thing since sliced bread.
Federal government workers, but not much for State government workers. That's up to Governors and State Legislatures, depending on which Party is in control of a particular state. Falls into States Rights.
If we get rid of these Federal employee's and let private, state governments to fill their places our national debt could be paid off in 10 to 15 years....

Well, given that the government workers are being paid with $$$$ TAKEN from the citizens by force it's understandable and should be expected that those paying the bills might be a tad upset at excess, waste, fraud and theft just like any other employer... As employers we should demand an audit and reality check when it comes to OUR money.
Why not just concentrate on eliminating programs and functions that are duplicated withing multiple agencies, and ending federal programs that have grossly underperformed or have flat out failed?
Why not do this first, instead of assuming everyone is being over compensated?
