Interesting, isn't it, how this comes on the heels of Mayor DeBlasio requesting reimbursement for security costs that NYC is incurring because the Trumps are apparently too good for DC.
So much for him supporting American business.
He clearly doesn't care if Boeing workers lose their jobs and millions lose value in their stock portfolios as a result of his spiteful tweets.
Note that the 28 helicopters were ordered by President George W. Bush. When Obama took office in early 2009, with the economy in a tailspin, he and members of congress were concerned over the cost (including overruns), and whether they really needed so many new state of the art helicopters.
It was apparently a discussion and decision between the President, his Secretary of Defense, and members of Congress. The articles that I have found do not indicate that Mr. Obama tweeted that the contracts should simply be cancelled.
I never said they were identical instances, and in fact thats why I said they were "similar" situations. Budget/money was an issue, easy to pick something in the future that doesn't impact you and say to cut back on it. It doesn't matter that Bush ordered the helicopters, not sure what that has to do with anything.
A brand new 747 is $350 million. Let's say you double it for mods needed for POTUS stuff and then add $500 million for the super secret electronics. That takes you to $1.2 billion.
Please break down the costs for us on how a $350 million plane jumps to $4 billion Mr Wizard.
In a statement, Boeing said that so far it is only under contract for $170 million. And that’s not yet for manufacturing, but rather “to help determine the capabilities of this complex military aircraft that serves the unique requirements of the President of the United States. We look forward to working with the U.S. Air Force on subsequent phases of the program allowing us to deliver the best plane for the president at the best value for the American taxpayer.â€
So, are you saying that the government should pay companies anything for goods or services?
What people are saying is that President (elected or otherwise ) should keep his opinions to himself and not tweet it out.Boeing's number have been falling since the Tangerine opened his mouth.
