That is common and you don't know the difference between tracking & confronting. They are called attack subs. Russians have been doing it for decades.
The telling tale here however, is that the US can track the very noisy Chinese subs at will and blow them out of the water if need be. They can't do that with our subs.
If you are attempting to make argument that the Chinese Navy is a match for the USA's, then you only embarrass yourself.
well said. only the russian navy matches the US in the submarine fleet, and theirs is declining.

only if the subs can manage to remain underwater, on the surface the modern submarine is actually slower by about 10-15 knots. and by the way, the chinese are using russian kilo class subs, they are extremely quiet at speeds of 5 knots or less, since they are diesel/electric subs.

The only thing the US has done is sail 'close' to disputed waters, we've never really had the cajones yet to sail within the perimeters of alllllllllll of the newly formed islands in the SCS. And all while the Chinese are flying aircraft over sovereign Japanese airspace, another one of our allies. Exactly what will the US do except **** and moan once the chinese establish ADIZ over the entire SCS AND start sailing close to Guam, Hawaii, CA, Oregon, AK, and WA?
...Or, the Carrier could just out run them. Top speed (hull speed, it is called) of an Aircraft Carrier would be in the order of 45 knots.
Even nuclear submarines top out at 35 - 40.

You're the one who should be embarrassed, if you had any sense of shame at all. You made the foolish statement "China won't go anywhere near a US carrier group," and Boneyard simply pointed out that once again, you have no idea what you're talking about. So now you try to twist away from your dumb statement by pretending you didn't say what you said and accusing Boneyard of saying things he never said. Par for the course with you.

Economically, maybe militarily, not a chance.
Correct they are poised to take over from China in a few years, few see it coming.
