Indeed. It always confuses people so I spend 90% of my time trying to explain it lol
To us socialism means Organized Society, period. It does not at all imply state ownership of the means of production, nor does it, in our definition, imply confiscation of private property. On the contrary.
Let us make it crystal clear: We are opposed to state ownership of the basic means of production, such as farms, factories, stores, etc. We are for the ownership of private property by individuals. We believe that there is a category of functions that are best performed by organized society as a whole. In this category we place highways, airports, harbors, national defense, law enforcement and many others.
We believe, not in democracy, but in a kind of Socialism, which is teamwork elevated to its highest perfection for the welfare of the whole nation, led by its ablest leaders. It combines the best elements of both teamwork and competition. If "team spirit" and rooting for the "home team" are such noble attributes (and they are) then, certainly, having a whole nation united in a team effort for their common good is the highest goal we can strive for.
I believe in neighbors, citizens, getting together to collectively build infrastructure, set rules, etc, but once it becomes unreasonably coerced, that is a problem.
Our tax system, as just one of many examples, is a farce, and it is the core component of our socialism.
It also varies based on the person. If you feel you side with issues on both the left and right, so that it creates a perfect balance, then you may choose center, or other if you wish. It's all based on self perception.
Agreed. I think of myself as "center left". Tho I've got a LOT more in common with the center and moderate right kind than with the far left people.
Have no idea what to mark. I'm registered independent.
I'm definitely left on protecting the environment, and I've always been fine with gay marriage.
I want gun restrictions for the mentally unstable or criminals, and no hard core military style arms sold to the public---thats left.
I have a spiritual side, but not religious -- so that's more left.
Don't want us involved with nation building or military involvement unless we are attacked. That's left.
But I'm very conservative with deporting illegals and creating very strict immigration reforms.
I'm conservative about Islamic terror, and do not want any muslim refugees coming in.
I want states to have more rights, and less federal regulations.
I want welfare reformed -- with able-bodied welfare workers replacing illegals, and mandatory birth control if on welfare.
I'm more for nationalism than globalism -- America first.
And I want law and order and civility respected again.
And I'm really disgusted these days with liberalism, so that means I'm more conservative than liberal, but is that moderate or centrist right?
I voted for Obama in 2008
Romney in 2012
Trump in 2016

I consider myself center right. I'm left on social issues, centrist on immigration, right on trade, center to left on welfare, left on healthcare, center right on taxes, center on environmentalism, right on most other economic issues, center right on gun control, center left on most military issues. I don't particularly like the GOP or Democrats. I'm a registered Libertarian, but really I'm more towards the center.
I put down center left, but -- like many people -- my various beliefs are not all consistent with that.
For example, I'm somewhat pro military spending, am morally against abortion and feel some legal restrictions should be in place, am all right with limited capital punishment, feel illegal drugs should remain illegal (but sentences should be eliminated for pot and be reasonable for other drugs).
I don't have a problem with people being labeled politically, as long as others realize that most people's views aren't hardcore anything.
I'm so sorry for you. Now everyone hates you, lol.
Yep.
Thankfully, there are a few others here with same voting record.
I'm alarmed now that I voted for Obama the first time, but I was so disappointed in Bush and his mishandling of the Iraq war and the economy, and McCain seemed to be more of the same and self-imploding with Palin as VP and his continually singing "bomb, bomb, ...bomb Iran."
I think eight years of Obama woke up the R party to how weak and ineffective at governing they had become, and many independents like myself really got what the consequences of liberal ideology gets us.
