Yes, economic diversity is real diversity, more than racial diversity is. Where I live is 100% white, nothing to do with my town in particular but rather because I live in VT which has virtually no racial diversity. Where I live is very economically diverse however. There aren't any rich neighborhoods or poor neighborhoods, just neighborhoods that cover the full economic spectrum as that is the norm here. I go to a party at a rich friend's place up the road and the guy that mows the lawn is there as a guest as is the woman that cleans the house who lives a few houses down the road in a trailer. I go to a cookout at friends who live in a trailer and the guests include a neighbor for whom their home is a 3rd home for them. Someone else is there who we all can see on TV every night and as far as everyone is concerned he is just another friend of the folks who live in the trailer. This is diversity in action.
Where my daughter lives in an upscale suburban setting has some racial diversity but it isn't real diversity to me as those black families are just as affluent as everyone else living there. You can be assured that the black families would be just as up in arms as the white families were there to be a proposal to put "affordable" housing or Section 8 housing in that community.
