Sears and Kmart have been losing billions of dollars and closing stores for years. Meantime, Sears Holdings, hasn't turned a profit since 2010 and warned last year there was "substantial doubt" that it will be able to stay in business.
By the end of July 2017, Sears Holdings had only 1,250 stores left in the United States, down from 3,400 at the start of 2006.
An old thread, back from the dead ! Overall, the economy has stayed pretty consistent, IN SPITE of Donald Trump being in office. A lot of factors enter into that, not the cheer leading reasons the Trumpees give (WOW, Trump is wonderful, look at the economy !!! ) It has very little to do with him.

Obama was sworn in January 2009. Despite constant obstruction from Republicans, job losses turned into job gains and and we are now on the tail end of the longest period of job and economic growth in recent history.
Job growth is slowing down. Numbers are down from last year.
