Pure bunk.

I have nearly 300 Facebook friends. Nearly all of them are well educated (some withe degrees). Nearly all of them have good jobs, many in management positions. One is a writer whose articles are published regularly on a well known conservative blog. Many of them are quite wealthy. They live in upscale neighborhoods in nice homes and have nice cars (some drive expensive cars ...BMW's, Porsche). Many of them own guns and are women who shoot and enjoy shooting sports. They are Christians and Jews. There are some from a large number of states including FL, TX, AZ, CA, PA, IN, NY, NC, SC, AL and more.

All of them are Trump supporters.

I think they are representative of a cross section of Trump supporters across America.

If ever there was a thread that exposed the underlying anger and iinferiority complex of Trump voters, this is it.

The OP just stated the well documented fact that among non-Hispanic whites, the higher the level of education, the higher the probability that they are Democrats. We're talking about statistical averages, so the number of Facebook friends that you have that are Trump supporters with advanced degrees is anecdotal and irrelevant to the point.

The OP didn't call non-college voters stupid. Neither side of the divide has a monopoly of intelligence.

Another statistical fact; the percentage of total votes cast by non-college non-Hispanic whites has been shrinking in every election but one since 1980. On average, it drops 3% with every four year POTUS cycle. The gap is being filled by an average 2% gain among total minority groups and a 1% increase in white college. The white non-college population is much older than the other groups, so it continues to fall due to generational displacement. Turnout can effect it on the margins but not stop it. How that demographic change plays out at the state level plays a significant role on whether a state trends blue or red.

If you look at states ranked by the percentage of residents with advanced college degrees, 19 of the top 25 states, plus D.C., voted for Hillary Clinton. Of the bottom 25 states, only Nevada voted for her.

D.C. 31.3%

More Red state/blue state nonsense. Somebody never took Stats or failed it
Without breaking down the data within those states that list is meaningless.

Also, outside of business, the top advanced degrees in this country are in area's that libs gravitate toward like education, or social work. I'm not mocking the fields, I'm just pointing out why most people with advanced degrees are libs. When look at 4 year degrees you see almost equal representation between political affiliation in the most recent elections. Is someone with a masters in elementary education really more educated than someone with a bachelors in say accounting or computer science? I wouldn't say yes or no. It's just a different rout to a professional job.

You can call it what you will, but the percentage of advanced educational attainment matches the red/blue state split better than any other demographic factor. It was first noticed by Ruy Teixeria and John Judis in "The Emerging Democratic Majority" about 15 years ago. The relative positioning of a state on that list gives a comparative snapshot of the economy of that state. If a state's economy is predominantly farming, traditional low tech manufacturing or mineral extraction, there are comparatively fewer advanced degree holders and the states are more likely to be red. If the states have a comparatively high numbers of advanced degree holders, they tend to have higher numbers of colleges and research universities that help spawn new industries that are more idea based; (computer and medical technology, etc.) and are more likely to trend blue.

There is plenty of data showing that less-educated (I won't say "under-educated" because that's a matter of opinion) people went for Trump more than their college-educated counterparts. For example, college educated voted Dem by 9 points, and non-college educated favored Trump by a similar margin:

Where is the data that says Trump voters earned more than Clinton voters?

I don'the think anyone would argue that. I was merely pointing out that advanced degrees tend to be more of a requirement in fields that libs gravitate toward like education, social work, the arts etc. If it was suddenly a requirement to have a masters to be an accountant, Banker, engineer, sales manager etc......you would see more Republicans with advanced degrees.

My point from the beginning of this thread has been that educated is a subjective term; Furthermore, one's educational attainment isn't anymore of a measure of success or intelligence than one's bank account. At the end of the day, successful people with good decision making abilities are simply doing whatever it is that they would like to be doing.

The poorest and least educated people in this country overwhelmingly vote Democrat. These aren't non-college graduates working in the trades. These are HS dropouts that work unskilled laborer or simply don't work at all. This is well documented.

Google search it.

It would be a better poll if they had differentiated amongst those with skills or training in a trade. Lumping everyone, even trades professionals together seems like youre missing part of the picture.

Unbelievable. So your sample of facebook friends trumps scientific statistical polling?

This is why we need a better education system in America. These kinds of thoughts and complete lack of understanding of even basic reasoning, logic, rhetoric, statistics and the scientific method are just appalling and lead to extremely distorted views. We can't have a functioning democracy like this.
