We should be trying to brainstorm & resolve issues like these rather than fight for political correctness, immigration & refugees. Try to get your own house in order before offering help to others. Its pathetic how this country is crumbling because of bad economy, crime rate, debt, obesity & broken healthcare. Instead of addressing these critical issues, we want to bring in more & more dependents to cripple the country forever. If you are siding with any candidate or party that is telling you to ignore or downplay your issues & wants you to focus on helping outsiders, then you are seriously sabotaging yourself & your children's future. Its ok to be selfish & ask your leaders to resolve the issues close to home rather than get brainwashed into helping them replace poor, troubled Americans with immigrants for cheaper labor.
we know it's not fair-- just watched FOX the other day about the weed ban trump is working on --and the gal was saying how the elite kids at the private school had more drugs and never got in trouble, than when she went to public school -- nobody here will talk about human trafficking- you think bringing a young boy or girl from overseas for their dirty AXX is cheap?? NO SIR that's BIG money spending right there-- FACTS
we will deport all if them trafficked or not, along with their coyotes -- but where is the buyer??-- IT IS NOT FAIR_ it's about cheap institutionalized LABOR and appearances of law and order.

we have a problem Houston -- but where are the employers who hire????? you know, the ones live ion that big house on the hill you awe every time they get in the news about opening another business in your area- -
So why not fight for real progressive change that we know can affect this situation positively, like creating a social democratic society with a proper public safety net? Without addressing poverty, education and the dismal state of a safety net in America, nothing will change.
The safety net and efforts to address poverty are one of the main reasons for this fact. In 1960, 1.3% of black men were incarcerated. Today the figure is 4.3%. One of the reasons is the destructive effect of Great Society programs that allegedly tried to reduce poverty by paying black women to have babies outside of marriage and making it unnecessary for black men to work if they wanted children.
Pretty nice article. I scanned through it, and I get the overall feeling is white people are tired of talking about black issues. I agree with that. I only wish most would understand, so we can really address the problem.

Instead, the overwhelming majority of African Americans voted for Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders.
Bernie would have been better for the country. At the end of the day, I don't know if he or anyone else would do a lot for black people, but he was definitely the better candidate. I don't trust much in a candidate, republican or democrat, solving issues pertaining to black people without black people actually holding them accountable.

For the first one, yes, there is a large degree of racism in this country. We see it very vividly even on this forum, from time to time. There has always been a divide between the races, but it has gotten even moreso during this election we just had. There is no question that blacks are generally not given the same opportunities and chances that we whites are given.
Now, for the part about blacks not taking responsibility for their own problems, and I will be brutally honest here. I feel that, if blacks truly want to elevate their status in America, and stop this revolving door of going to jail, they need to say "enough is enough". There are far too many of your young who live on the streets and who take to a life of crime to survive. We do not see the outrage that we should be seeing from the black community, whenever someone is murdered, for example. Whenever the police try to get help to find the shooters, no one saw anything.
When my ancestors came to America, they had only the clothes on their backs, and didn't even speak English. But they worked hard, kept their noses clean, and made sure their children got an education and learned right from wrong. Instead of seeing the police as the enemy, they cooperated with the police and respected the job they do.
I am sure there are reasons that some blacks go down the paths they do, but, until it becomes unacceptable in your community to break the laws, nothing will happen. It has to start with you.
There are definitely gangs and thugs in the black community who kill other black people, and there is not enough outcry about that. Yet the situation black people are in today is the direct result of all the years of being discriminated against. We tried to work hard like your ancestors who couldn't speak english, but we were hunted down and exterminated. A lot of it sanctioned by the government. Think about it, my ancestors could speak english. In theory, black people should be ahead of most people in the country, including all the white immigrant descendants. The only logical explanation as to why that is not the case is because we were intentionally kept down. We had businesses burned to the ground, etc. We couldn't progress. What you see today in our community is the final result of hundreds of years of social engineering.
If your point is to claim that black people are in prison falsely, then you OP are a liar, a propagandist pushing a BS postition that is easily debunked by looking at the hard data.
Run along, as it seems you are pushing racist propaganda.
No, they are not- but proven fact is, same crime a black will see jail time before a white will-- just facts
But its not just about race it is about the type of crime - as child predators... get probation, and a class-- steal from a casino-- LIFE -- you got dollars like affluenza stupid kid -- except ran off top mexico... probation.
Wall street embezzlement- price rigging, mtg fraud...they take MILLIONS ... and get 5 yrs,,, poor dude sells some dope 20! let me not get started because~ I will fill the page
Really? Lots of White people get a "slap on the wrist" for murder?
No, Blacks are just more violent (at least in America). Just about every time you read a new article about a senseless violent act, you see a Black face or two in the mugshot.
Black people in america would have to be the most violent people in the world according you. Remember, our prison population outnumbers every nation's total prison populations except China, who has total population of over 1 billion.
Are you able to provide statistics detailing why those 900,000 are in prison? Without that, it's pointless to discuss this...we don't have enough facts. It will simply be an emotional plea.
There are a number of studies showing that Blacks are victimized by the law and judicial systems. Always been true.
The most clear cut are the drug cases.
*******************************
According to the Human Rights Watch, people of color are no more likely to use or sell illegal drugs than whites, but they have higher rate of arrests. African Americans comprise 14 percent of regular drug users but are 37 percent of those arrested for drug offenses. From 1980 to 2007 about one in three of the 25.4 million adults arrested for drugs was African American.
***************************************
There are similar statistics that show Blacks get longer sentences for the same crime.
The statistics for stop and frisk in NY showed Blacks were stopped and frisked far more than whites even though a small part of the population. And the yield of those stops was very low.
The Blacks tend to be poor but a whole lot of it is institutional racism.
