he didn't lie.......the Al Franken question was about a CNN report that was later proved false.
Al Franken question was did any of the Trump's camp contacted Russian surrogates over the CNN report about the alleged Russian blackmail on Trump (allegation false). He makes no qualification, he is perfectly direct in his denial.

It's not invented ... when the allegations are confirmed by the parties being referred to. Sessions has admitted to meeting with Russia's highest ranking official in the USA. Gen. Flynn admitted to his multiple contacts with Russian officials. Contact between other Trump-related emissaries with Russian officials has been admitted to. So none of this seems to have been invented ... and many people are saying this.

Flynn was Obama's Director of Intelligence from 2012 to 2014, I'm sure he had contact with many foreign diplomats including Russians......what law he violated again?

Now we all clearly understand why Trump is pushing the "fake news" mantra. His desperation to shut down any ongoing investigation is obvious. At first, I was ambivalent about the Russia connections but the more we uncover, the more Trump protests against the media, the longer he hides his tax returns, the stronger their resistance to a special prosecutor, the the more it becomes apparent that there is a lot more to this story.
The American people deserve answers to all of these questions. American citizens deserve an independent investigation. I can't think of any rational or reasonable reason why the Trump administration would not want such investigations to move forward, in the press and in Congress. After all, if you are innocent, wouldn't you want your name cleared? This whole thing smells to high heaven. And this is only the beginning.
One question in my mind. How long is the arm of Putin's FSB? Would they dare to try to intimidate American journalists? Would they dare carry out a Russian style assassination in order to squelch an investigation? If and when we see that happen - all bets are off.

Just as it looked like the country could start to focus on its problems we get to talk about Russia again. The dems would rather have congress investigate trump that work on passing tax and immigration reform. Let the FBI investigate, they already said there was nothing there.

At the confirmation hearing for attorney general in January, Senator Al Franken, Democrat of Minnesota, asked Mr. Sessions about a CNN report that intelligence briefers had told Barack Obama, then the president, and Mr. Trump, then the president-elect, that Russian operatives claimed to have compromising information about Mr. Trump.
Mr. Franken also noted that the report indicated that surrogates for Mr. Trump and intermediaries for the Russian government continued to exchange information during the campaign. He asked Mr. Sessions what he would do if that report proved true.
Mr. Sessions replied that he was “not aware of any of those activities.” He added: “I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign, and I didn’t have — did not have communications with the Russians, and I’m unable to comment on it.”
Sessions was answering Franken's questions about the CNN report that was later proven false......you can't take the topic of a question out of context......any court will not allow it.

And when it's proven that Russia did not interfere in this election, that will be the finishing blow to the Democratic party. A lot of people will bail on them once that happens.
