I'm wondering if there was more to the story than the simple wearing of red, white, and blue. The link provided is to a page that seems a bit...well, not entirely objective, let's call it, to be kind.
I wear red, white and blue around here all the time and I haven't been attacked by a single member of the Ute or Navajo Nation yet. But then I forget - You cons have fallen in love with Red - red, red, red - no white or blue allowed. Silly cheerleaders!
Because some high school alumn write it on his Facebook page, how is this on anyone's radar? Not the principal, not a teacher, not even a student some dbag that went to high school in Southeast nowhere Iowa, this is what outrages people?
A google search reveals that cr@p like this is far from isolated!
Just one of many ...

I recently attended a varsity high school basketball game where the student section was dressed up in red, white and blue. “America” was the theme that night. Apparently in doing so, the visiting fans felt that students were being racist.
I’m not entirely sure how a bunch of kids dressed up in red, white and blue makes them racist.
One of the visiting fans felt that when the students chanted “U.S.A” they were offending the visiting players and fans, claiming that many of them, unbeknownst to me or anyone else sitting in the gym that night, are immigrants.
It's in blatantly bad taste I tell you. Outside of the flag those colors do not go well together.
