He's probably also trying to take Media focus off of Russiagate. Usually his crazy tweets work, but that hasn't been working lately so now he decided to step up the game an do something that would really be a top news story (to deflect Russiagate).
He's a sociopath and could easily,without a second thought, do such a thing, like bomb Syria, merely to deflect the Russiagate news story. Me thinks that's one of the top reasons he did this.

This Syrian man said he DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE SYRIA. He wanted to restore Syria . He wanted President Trump to act againt this latest attack.
Whoof! Do we know if these were binary weapons? If they had to be mixed in a controlled manner, the footprint of the remnant toxics may be slight. If not - well, then the downwinders will have been evacuating immediately as soon as the alert went out - assuming that the Assad military drilled enough to have military/civilian alerts, warnings, routes, assigned transport & drivers & medics & emergency teams & masks & antidotes on hand, & personnel to administer them & transport civilians out of the plume.
& alert any users of water downstream, rig up area traffic control, exclusion zones to detox any crops, food animals, lakes, rivers. The impact to the regional economy & population dynamics may be major - depends on what chemicals were destroyed &/or released, how long they linger, what exactly the agents were.
Worst case is that the agents involved were on loan from somebody, & that the associated technical skills & equipment & knowhow aren't organic to Assad's military. That's the worst case - & that will mean that Assad's military will also be flailing about, trying to round up masks, MOPP gear (or equivalent), & generally heading upwind as fast as they borrow transport. If that's the case, it's going to be sheer pandemonium there until the CIS specialists & their gear & meds & etc. are wheels down @ the site - 24 to 72 hours later?

The president of the US should be concerned about the carnage in America, not some unfortunate stuff that happens in Syria.
At the cost of American lives in a new war. More and more I regret not voting for Sanders in the primaries. Clinton's statement earlier today made me realize they were right and that she is just another warhawk.
She is tougher than Obama I think--and would have taken a harder line in many other situations than Obama

Yeah, I get what you're saying, and when public opinion goes overwhelmingly in one direction, it's almost impossible for any president to go against that populous.
With that said, I don't think the American people are united and up in arms, crying out for a U.S. military intervention in Syria.
Most people I know, Republicans and Democrats, are tired of our country spending money and lives to try to bring "stability" to a region that has been unstable for thousands of years.
I'm conflicted on this myself. Hard to feel good about this, whether you agree with the attack or not.
