Mexico and the US have fought for years over tuna. The US insists that any Mexican tuna sold in the US must be "dolphin safe," meaning dolphins weren't killed by tuna fisherman, which was once common.
What a bast*rd-trying to protect the lives of dolphins from archaic fishing practices. Enriching Mexican fishing industry comes first dammit!

What an uninformed post.

Epic fail.

What makes that post uninformed? Please explain how you can tell if a portion of an item came from someplace other than the item's tag says it cam from. And, how you can tell where the food in a restaurant came from.

You guys do know a huge portion of jobs in the U.S depends on international relations if we pulled out of WTO our farming, energy, finance and literally every billion dollar American company would take a hit. Sure CEO's would earn less money but their would be mass layoffs. America has such a high standard of living due to being plugged into the world network. America doesn't have all the resources needs to be self sufficient, and even if we did we would live a substantially lower quality of life, closer to Eastern Europe standards than what we have now.

And then we have Americans who complain about Mexico being a third world country. Well, it's hard to be a first world country when you are getting messed over and can't even get paid properly for your exports.

One loss for the Trump Administration, many more to come.
Right.

check out the WTO and see who they are.

Head of WTO a guy from Brasilia whose wife, a social justice activist, is ambassador to the UN from Brasilia. guess whose side the guy from SA is on?

The previous head.....

"After his tenure in Brussels, Pascal Lamy spent a short sabbatical period as President of “Notre Europe”, a think tank working on European integration, as associate Professor at the l’Institut d’études politiques in Paris and as advisor to Poul Nyrup Rasmussen (President of the European Socialist Party).

So now that MX won all that cash do you suppose it will reduce the millions of mexicans fleeing mexico who can now share in the wealth?

Where is PETA on this issue?

The unintended catch denial is a refrain from all foreign fishing vessels whether on the mid Atlantic coast or Mexico.

Perhaps you should do some reading. Trump's complaints have NOTHING to do with that duty. The complaints relate to a type of dairy product which IS allowed into Canada duty-free. The product was being sold at above world prices but still below what Canadian producers were allowed to charge by the government. Recently regulations were changed and Ontario producers were allowed to sell at world prices, making U.S. imports uncompetitive price-wise. THAT was Trump's complaint.

As far as dairy products subject to duty, this is the background:

Quote:
Since 1970 Canada's dairy industry has been operating under a supply management system by which supply is matched with domestic demand. In the process of controlling the supply the amount of imports are made predictable through a system of tariff rate quotas. Canada annually allows in a pre- determined amount of dairy products in various categories duty free from the United States, but once the volume limit has been reached (quota), anything over that amount is subject to tariffs of a minimum of 200 per cent and up to 313.5 per cent.
http://www.thedairysite.com/articles...us-and-canada/

If the U.S. had a similar system they wouldn't have such an large oversupply of dairy products and businesses wouldn't be failing. That they don't have such a common sense approach isn't Canada's fault.

By the way, the U.S. dairy industry actually exports far more to Canada than the other way around.

In the best interest of being fair, this is not Trump's fault. This has been an on going issue with bad timing for Trump. It will be interesting to see how he handles this, or not. It might just fall to the side. Look over there while I work on Obama care, no wait. It's tax reform this week. Have to get some kind of legislation done before the 100 day bench mark. Ridiculous standard that it is. Might as well take a week and reform something really complicated before I go to Mar-A-Lago. What can I do for the 1% this time?
