A lot of disaster aid goes to counties, cities, school districts, water/flood control districts(independent government agencies) and other government entities to help for things like ruined bridges, flood control modifications, libraries that were damaged, roads, parks, signs, sewer systems, police and fire departments, water systems, public grounds like parks and wharfs and decks and playgrounds and walkways and baseball fields and fences and landscaping and debri cleanup. Usually FEMA kicks in with some stuff because that is one of the roles of FEMA.

If the governor of NC was a Republican or a Trump supporter, NC would have received a lot more funding.

Just this month, Trump gave Florida's governor $1.5 billion in federal money. This isn't about cost savings. Trump will hand out money and funds but he must get support/arse kissing before he hands out the money. If his arse isn't kissed then he keeps the money.
All state entirety. States holler states right on one hand and have the other out for federal money with the other.

Not denying anything except the money people feel they deserve. Start with insurance, then state then Fed.
I was in Goose Creek , I think was 2015, when we had our major flooding here. No one was freaking out, going to fema etc etc. We just dealt with it..
Stop acting like a child and stop begging for money right from the government. Get your damn insurance company to pay out first.

To date, $1.4 billion in state and federal funds have been allocated to North Carolina, which includes HUD and Federal Emergency Management Agency money, according to the governor’s office.

Fix it your self! I don't go begging the government for money when my car broke down....I fixed it myself. Live that close to the coast WHY do people not have flood and hurricane insurance? Why should ALL of us have to suffer because a few thousand people are too lazy or stupid to take care of their own issues.

That is nonsense. NO ONE but the home owners should be paying to fix their rentals or their personal homes! You don't need EXTRA money for heath care we already have it!

Mortgages on properties in disaster prone areas require flood insurance as a condition of the loan. Those who own free and clear are able to self insure.

FFIP covers a maximum of $250,000 for house and $100,000 for contents. It does not cover living expenses nor business interruption. Excess flood insurance may be available from private insurers in some areas.

Boggles the mind that 2 of the most disaster prone states do not have a state income tax and no problem repeatedly expecting a hand out when disaster strikes.
I don't know how anyone who has ever bought a house could be ignorant of this fact?
