Or instead of acting like a jerk and start demanding things, why didn't you just politely ask her why she needed to scan your license. That doesn't seem so hard.

It was a law passed during Dubya's first term, mainly due to methamphetamine.
I remember the days when psuedoephedrine was OTC, but since the early 00's, you have to go through hoops and up ladders to buy it, including registering your license with the DEA and the quantity bought
I wonder if this is legal or not, but today I went to my local Walgreens to purchase some medicines for my bad cold, and the lady at the cashier's asked for my Drivers License.
I thought, she was only supposed to verify my age, maybe there are drug addicts around buying cold medicines to manufacture crack. Which I thought is ok, is like buying alcohol or beer, they need to verify legal age.
Well, this lady scanned my Drivers License in some sort of machine, and here is my question.
Are they supposed to scan my ID and keep my information somewhere?
If you bought medications that contain ingredients that can be used to manufacture ilegal drugs, yes. They keep a log.
Some states use the SSN as a driver's license number. An extremely unwise move on the part of the legislators in the states where this is the case, but hey...they're state legislators because they can't really get any other kind of gainful employment, right?
Because teenagers get high off it over the counter medicine like Sudafed
And some of the liquid cough syrups contain alcohol, and kids are notorious for trying to get drunk off of it. But now, I'm learning people can get drunk off of vanilla extract. Been seeing bottles of the stuff lying out in the parking lot, and that's when someone told me what the deal is.
