Spitzer was, and will always be a criminal in my eyes. [url="http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110008324"]He did not clean up wall street (broken link)and was taking kickbacks from one competing firm when prosecuting another. He built his reputation on the New York Times headlines and the Times built him up to be something he was not, most of the headline grabbing charges were dropped. His big clean-up at the New York Racing association amounted to arresting half a dozen mutual $10 hour clerks for tax evasion with lots of front pages stories. The New York Racing scandal was a cover to wrestle control of the Aqueduct Casino to Spitzer's Manhattan Real Estate mogul friend Richards Fields. There was no interest in racing scandals before the slot Casino was approved.

A few heartfelt commercials and unmitigated support from the New York Times is all it takes to fool the masses into voting for a complete criminal like Steamroller Spitzer. He won 69% of the vote. I say that 69% should never be allowed to vote again.

I think this is the key issue, he made his career prosecuting and publicizing exactly the kind of behavior he obviously is guilty of doing himself. I see no alternative for him but to resign. His career is now over.

I know, but you gave me the vision so I just ran with it.

It will be tied to the demcrats in general just as larry craig was tied to the republicans during the congressional elections. Of course it will be the non-candidate ads that will make the case just as then.

This kind of behavior has been going on since the beginning of time and will continue to go on as long as there are men and women on earth... it is just one of those "facts of life" that cannot be denied. More power just means greater opportunity with higher stakes. Nowadays if you elect to be a public figure then you better be ready to give up your private life or risk going down in flames if you get caught philandering. In the past this type of behavior was suppressed but now everything is up for public consumption. Personally I would rather not know about a persons "private affairs" but would like to know how he is running the important affairs of business. I just think that a sex act has little to do with the big picture of running a company or a nation. This kind of behavior should be private and between the partners... it has no place in the public realm and serves no purpose. I do not approve of this man's behavior but it is none of my business. His behavior is a crime... a crime to his wife and children but it is not my business. Why do I need to know about his sex life anyway? I am not interested. I feel only pity for his wife and children... why should they have to suffer public humiliation because of what he did... it is bad enough to find out your husband is sleeping with another woman and then to have the world watching and judging you for his stupid behavior. My question is... what purpose does it serve?

Default 69% of New Yorkers voted for this

John Whitehead (head of LMDC) ''Mr. Whitehead, it's now a war between
us and you've fired the first shot.
I will be coming after you. You will pay the price. This is only the
beginning and you will pay dearly for what you have done. You will
wish you had never written that letter," Whitehead said Spitzer said.

truthhurts;3097718]Well, let's not forget about the Democratic Governor Jim McGreevey of New Jersey. He certainly had a lot of "politcal man-dates" while in office.
I'm gonna have to steal that one

Private personal affair? This guy broke the law just as nixon did ;but even worse he is the actor in the crime.he is not covering for someone else.I say he should be pressed to resign then it is up to him. Then charges should be filed on the compalint already made by the feds. Then he should he should be disbarred.Enough of these crooks in office. No wander people have no respect for any political office holder. His wife is just like a rape victim she has none nothing and to even say that she has people JUDGING her is outrageous. Typical scapegoat mentality.I feel soory for the families of all criminals but that doesn't mean you give the criminal a pass.
