I hope you're right. The Russians have the Syrian army, Black Sea access, and very likely ground access to Syria. Afghanistan has had an alliance with Russia for decades. The USA has pissed off Turkey in the last couple of years. The USA has been hostile to Iran. Iraq is in some way still up for grabs. I wouldn't necessarily count on the Middle East backing the USA.

I think I'm at least the fourth person in this thread to ask you why the US presence is illegal. You haven't responded but you sure talk up a lot of other gibberish.
Yes. gibberish. Like "the US Military openly helping ISIS". What's your evidence? That the US takes out an Assad warplane attacking US-friendly rebels? Oh, wait - that's right - all anti-Assad rebels are "terrorists". Yea, keep repeating the Assad-Iranian propaganda. Because that's all that you are - a propagandist. And not a very effective one. Learn some decent English. Are you in the US? or Iran?
We have approved nothing in Syria. The correct word is UnConstitutional.

Will some be able to point out the hypocrisy of those who refused to say anything when dumb ass Obama got us involved there in the first place? They will but American's coming home dead will get ugly.

We can't even defeat Afghanistan.
ISIS would like nothing better than for USA ground troops to enter Syria. They've wanted that for years.

you may be right finn, the russians might just be sabre rattling, but it is a serious issue for american pilots since the threat has been put forth.

as for the era of air combat being history, not true. as long as there are pilots in fighter planes, you can bet there will be air combat from time to time. granted it wont be like world war two, korea, or vietnam, but air combat is still a reality.

No we won't, but the cost will be staggering. A fight with the Russians would be more in your face battle lines drawn fight. Something both of our Military's are geared to fight. We have more and greater logistic capability to support such a fight. That said its a fight that doesn't need to happen nor should it be allowed to happen.

They have nothing to lose. We kill 50 of them and they kill 5 of ours and they win.

We can't win. It's impossible. We have no justification for being there. What do we win?

Do you really think that Russia doesn't have a strong military - that the USA maintained their military and Russia sat back and ate bonbons since 1991? I wouldn't count on it.

It's good to see the US Military stand up for itself again now that Trump is in command.

It's a marked change from Obama's "nice war" and apology tours, and letting Iranians capture our soldiers and humiliate them.

'We will not hesitate to defend ourselves': US military refuses to be cowed after Russia threatens to target every coalition plane or drone it finds west of the River Euphrates in Syria
Would the Russians be so bold if they didn't smell weakness and indecision. If the Russians target one of our planes and there is some miscalculation, it could get serious.

You Trumpkins better wise up. Trump isn't Kennedy.
I really wish Pence was in charge right now.
