I have felt very good for a long time, but it has nothing to do with any politician. If you need the government to make you feel happy, then that says more about you than anything else.

Yes, and we have had decades of big government, big regulation, high taxes, and government intrusion from both Democrats and RINO Republicans like Bush I, and II. It is time to put government in its place, reign in spending, reduce taxes, and reduce the size of government.
There will be a lot more economic opportunity under Trump than under "You didn't build that!", You can keep your doctor, you can keep your health plan Obama. Pure Liar.
History teaches us that what republicans "do" is what matters - you may call them "in name only"... but, they have been doing the republican agenda a lot longer than the current administration. So, no, they are actual republicans, despite any longing for them not to be.
It's hard to respond to this seeing as how little information I could actually find on the report. I know it consisted of 1,000 people, survey via landline or online. I know that apparently 74% said "happy." I however know essentially nothing else.
For example, I went to Rasmussen's website to see more, and when I clicked on "view question wording" it lead to a list of questions for an unrelated survey done in October of 2012.
Now, perhaps I don't need to know that to know that this study really has nothing to do with Trump. The number of respondents that are saying they're happy seems to be on the rise. This poll merely continues the trend. Logic suggests that your conclusion is wrong. Rather or not you accept logic is up to you, I guess.
Actually, I believe that when they linked to the "questions on the survey", they have been using the exact same questions since 2012. They say that they have repeated the survey several times, and, clearly, have used those same questions each time.

I disagree. They talk about fiscal responsibility, lower taxes, less government, etc, but turn around and do nothing to advance any of these issues. They TALK like Republicans, then act like Democrats because they want the status quo, and only care about their own political careers, and personal wealth.
What we have now are Career Politicians which to me are the same a Royalty. Tar and feathering is too good for them.
It turns out people feeling happy, and what they think about the direction of the country are not the same thing. The OP confused them as one and the same. Of course you can be happy with your personal life, while being skeptical about politics.
Overall, 37% of American adults believe the nation is headed in the right direction, according to a new poll from Business Insider's partner MSN. A plurality says their pride in being American decreased over the past year, and almost a third say the government isn't working at all.
Notably, independent respondents aligned more closely with Democratic voters than with GOP voters. Just 23% believe the country is on the right track, and 19% say their pride in being American increased over the past year.
