As your article notes, this was not a real attempt at providing health care. It was stupid idiotic politicians trying to play "gotcha" with our lives. How do we actually elect people like this?
It was never meant to pass and it never would have because of that.
I now pay over $800 every month for a family of four on ACA, and that's considered inexpensive and good insurance through my employer. Then I pay out copays and deductibles. There are no copays with concierge medicine and you can visit an unlimited number of times. You do have to make an appointment. I'd be saving over $300 a month with concierge medicine and catastrophic insurance, would lose the expense of the $45 and $65 copays and would have better coverage.
It may not be for everyone, but for people who saw their premiums double and triple, it may be worth looking into. For those who opted out of Obamacare and pay the fine, this would be worth looking into.
Here's a Forbes article that has the cost of insurance much higher for a family of four. The $25,826 includes employer contributions, but look at the chart showing employee costs, for a family of four, at over $11K per year--about $920 per month:

So for a family of six, this would be $4800 and then the cost of insurance?
For a family of six under my PCP's plan it would cost $2,700 for the year.
Married couple, same address $1,500/yr. Dependents age 10-24 with an enrolled parent $300/yr.

Millions can not come up with $2700 plus the cost of insurance.

Agreed.
The point I was (albeit perhaps feebly) attempting to illustrate is what, in recent history, IS or was a "real attempt at providing healthcare"?
McCain is a loser RINO! He is a hero? The only reason he was ever captured was because he didn't obey orders. Also, he dumped his first wife for the bimbo. His first wife, who stood by him during his capture, even when she was gravely injured herself.
He is also no friend to military retirees. He is constantly trying to get their medical taken away. I can't stand the guy.
Really? I give him full credit for his service, but he is LONG overdue to get his RINO butt out of the senate and move onto just being a beer distributor.
