They maybe but the government dont own the NFL. The NFL gets the same tax breaks that other spirts entities like NASCAR gets as well as companies who keep jobs in America do. At the same time, our president is funded by the tax payers and all he has done is sign executive orders when he isn't Tweeting about the NFL, defending Neo-Nazis and the KKK, golfing or vacationing on our dime. His admin is also having tons of government money thrown at them for vacations too. Which should be attacked first, the NFL subsidies that other companies get for similar reasons or Trump and his cronies for abusing the tax payer dime for trips?

I don't begrudge the players their self-expression, but protesting the anthem/flag doesn't make sense. The anthem and flag represent the American system, including the Constitution, which as a 5th Amendment (right to due process) and a 14th Amendment (equal protection clause).

Any protests should be directed at local police, courts, mayors, and city councils that allow violation thereof. So in my view, these players are barking up the wrong tree. They should be the most enthusiastic proponents of the Anthem, but just demand that the principles it represents be upheld.

There was a 50's-60's civil rights activist named Robert F. Williams, who was also an ex-Marine. He was fond of saying that he was hugely patriotic, albeit a true patriot, because he was fighting to see the day that American principles were truly upheld.

That actually dont hurt the league. The league and the team already got the ticket holder's money. Reselling it dont take the money out of their hands. The only way to do that is to actually ask for a prorated refund. Burning the tickets or jerseys is purely symbolic.

If this continues to gather steam and other advertisers stop advertising -- the NFL will be forced to do something about the national anthem circus side show.
It's sad, the NFL allowed their teams and logos to help America heal during 9/11, and now, 17 years later, they are using the NFL brand to tear America apart... And this started before Trump. Not allowing players to wear 9/11 shoes, or showing support for cancer awareness or domestic violence awareness, and banning Tebow from praying before games, but then they wonder why people are tired when people are taking a knee during the National Anthem.

I can't argue with you there. And I'm finding out that many of these stadiums and teams that are owned by these billionaire entrepreneurs also get funding from the federal government to keep the places running, so it probably means that tax payers are also funding many of these athletes inflated salaries, but yet, our military grunts can't even scrap 50 grand a year.

Sadly though, it's one of those things the whole world can come together and partake in peace. Like the Olympics. Soccer is another sport that is loved with fans worldwide. There is nothing wrong with people finding something to unite them with so they have something to cheer for. It's stuff like this that make life worth living, either be it your son, or just a former classmate is now playing on a team, and in a sense, he/she is playing for you.
