The most common is through marriage to a US citizen. However that only applies to those that entered on Visas and over-stayed. Asylum would be another, but very hard to achieve.

Sorry I was there. There were cases of no docs. But the common was falsified particularly when dealing with Countrywide. I would steer my low end clients elsewhere but sometimes the best option was Countrywide.

Melania got her Green Card in 2001. She married Trump in 2015. She didn't get legal status via marriage. She had it before that.
