If one eats Halal food, why would they go to McDonald's and order chicken? Wouldn't fish have been the better choice if there were no Halal food available?
McDonalds got out of the Halal business in 2013.
Some McDonalds serve Kosher which is a permissible alternative to Halal.
Not all Muslims observe a strict Halal code, beyond refraining from eating pork.
And some Muslims ignore the whole Halal thing no different than some Jewish people ignore the whole Kosher thing.
If one eats Halal food, why would they go to McDonald's and order chicken? Wouldn't fish have been the better choice if there were no Halal food available?
Bet they didn't know, everything in the south, is cooked in bacon grease!!!

I have a bacon grease can specially made to keep bacon grease in, with a strainer under the lid.
It even has "Grease" stamped into the stainless, on the side.
Strictly speaking, Muslims should never eat in a non-halal restaurant.
Muslims in China never go to restaurants of Han Chinese, even if they just want to eat some rice.
Many actually do this. But obviously not all.
The cross contamination chance is always there.
This is strange. My Paki acquaintances don't eat fast food at all, because they only eat halal chickens. Is the family in this story only observing halal 'lite'?
I believe KFC is Halal.
Buddahism, Hinhuism, Jainism, Judiahism, Islam all have dietary laws with pork being the single greatest forbidden food.
Some people are more observant of dietary laws, than others. Some trend practical, especially when traveling.
Used to be Catholics were not allowed to eat meat on Fridays. While many observed, others did not.
The McDonald's in the Middle East are either Kosher or Halal depending on the country. There is no pork products on their menus. This Muslim family is from New York.
The problem I see with this Muslim family is even if the bacon weren't on the sandwiches the chicken itself would not be allowed to be eaten as both are cooked on the same grill. The bacon grease would've been on the chicken.
I thought McDonalds fried their chicken and nuggets in a basket.
It appears it was deliberate - by an employee. Not an accident, McDonald's is liable.

CAIR, a wing of HAMAS, is looking to find someone to blame. McDonalds hasn't implicated any employee so far.
A representative of the Decatur McDonald’s has since denied any wrongdoing by his employees, though he has yet to address if he believes the family is falsifying their story, or if the bacon was merely a mistake.
