I, too, do not want a war.
BUT, I am sick and tired of the United States being the whipping boy for the world. I am sick of our "leaders" bowing and scraping in the name of "diplomacy". "THEY" have been diplomatic with North Korea since 1953, and because of that Kim and his predecessors have a very low opinion of us. They know that if they are intimidating enough, we will roll over with our paws in the air, and give them whatever they want.
NO MORE! It is past time to wave the Big Stick. Thank you, President Trump, for having the guts to do so!
The last 3 administrations (both parties) negotiated with NK from a consolatory/slow walk position. that has led to NK possessing ballistic missiles capable of reaching US territories, and nuclear weapons that evidently have been miniaturized to the point that they can be delivered via those ICBMs.
Mr. Trump tack has been to approach NK from a position of strength. Its not what has been done. However, what has been done has not been successful.
I fail to understand the hand wringing from the political class considering their preferred method has gotten us to this point.
NK issues a threat. Trump fires back "You better stop threatening us *mumbes something about fire and fury*" Nk issues another threat. Trump fires back "I'm not kidding!!" NK *rolls their eyes" issues another threat. Trump "I SAID STOP IT I'M REALLY SUPER DUPER SERIOUS THIS TIME" etc. etc. etc.
I know when I grew up, someone made a threat towards me, I didn't go away to watch my back....
It was on, like Donkey Kong. Don't ever under estimate your opponent! I don't think Trump is under estimating N. Korea. Trump is about to thump that guy.
It's still uhhh, uhhh, a ,uhhh, uhhh, better, uhhh, uhhh, response, uhhh, uhhh, than, uhhh, uhhh, Obama...etc., etc., etc.....
not Obama.
Clinton, Bush, and Obama... In fact, the foreign policy of the US toward NK for basically 3 decades from a bi-partisan position.
Its a failed approach. What we do know about Obama (and this is a simple fact not some partisan attack on my part) is that Flynn reported that NK had the capacity to miniaturize their nukes to the point that an ICBM delivery system was viable. The Obama administration did not let that information become public. He did inform Mr. Trump when Mr. Trump won the election.
