Who would have thought it would EVER be acceptable to fly a swastika flag in this country outside of a museum? Who would have thought that we would be wanting to tear down memorials to the founding fathers because they were slave owners? This country has lost its damn mind and I am getting the feeling we are nearing the end. Unless something changes, I don't see how we can make it to 2020 as the United States.

Being gay living in the deep South, this really concerns me and I am starting to feel like I better get to a blue state while I still can.

What are your thoughts? Will America make it to 2020?
We survived 8 years of Obama- that say a lot for America- even he couldn't destroy America. He sure tried however!

Yes, it will survive. There will be more protests - some of them violent - but the country will certainly remain intact.

As for your wanting to retreat to a blue state, I think you're overreacting. Most Americans aren't out to get you as a gay man. They generally don't care about your sexual orientation.

What does being gay and living in the South have anything to do with anything since you're so deeply closeted your family doesn't even know?

Three years? Yes. But this goes well beyond any particular politician or authority figure, in my opinion. 15-20 years out is what I'm more concerned about.
