I wasn't a big fan of Arpaio, nor did I have a deep hatred for him either. And I wasn't itching to see an 85 year old go to jail. Although it would have been karma for him to wear pink underwear!
What gets me is the grandstanding Trump does with this. He knows Arpaio is a controversial figure. The president is the ultimate PR person, he could have smoothed things over with the public a little better.
It's the Loony Leftists-Media Matters-DNC-Mass Hysteria Bubble talking point of the month. Since Republican starts with the letter R they want words that are alliterative for this smear campaign:
He was found guilty of a misdemeanor you don't go to prison for misdemeanors, his maximum sentence would have been 6 months in jail and in all likelihood he wouldn't have served a day, or if he did get jail time it would probably have been 30 days. Since it was a federal charge he would have served jail time in a county jail the feds contract with and Maricopa county is not one of them. And he would have been in protective custody, just like any other public official, politician or police officer who is incarcerated.
Joe Arpaio is despicable. The deaths that occurred in his jail, the treatment of US citizens whose only crime was being latino and his 'concentration camp' jail (his term, not mine) where people convicted of misdemeanors had to spend their ail sentence outside in 120 degree temperatures and live on two meals of garbage a day. And you call that an impressive career
Sounds like you'd support him as long as he wasn't killing babies or puppies.
Our soldiers in the middle east live in tents and eat far worse than what criminals in Maricopa county did.
Obama pardoned drug dealers that later went on to kill people when he released them.

Yeah the whole announcement of the announcement schtick -- conservatives hate show biz and Trump is all about the show.
Obviously by their actions and what they've said... Have you been following politics at all lately?
I follow politics every single day. What are the actions and what have they that is said racist? Is it just because illegal aliens and their supporters make that claim?
Arpaio' actions cost Maricopa County millions of dollars in legal fees and settlements. Was it worth it?
He got away with it, so yeah... to him.
