He was a huge supporter of the Socialist Loony, but, when the DNC selected Hilliary over Loony, The Young Jerks were pulling for Hilliary.

Nobody here is loving Hillary. Hell, the reason Hillary is lost is not because Trump ran a good campaign, but because a huge number of progressives didn't vote for her because she, quite frankly, stunk as a candidate. Meanwhile, the far-right blindly supports Trump even to this day.
Additionally, nobody here is supporting these wacky "left wing" extremists, just like nobody is supporting Antifa, or other "left-wing" thug groups. At the same time, right-wingers are standing in line to defend Trump, Nazis, and Klansman while making absurd claims like "The KKK isn't violent."

I agree with some of the things Young Turks say but I also disagree with a lot of the things they say, but that doesn't make them my "hero"
The far-right cannot understand nuanced views. They cannot understand a progressive who says, "That guy is right about some things, but wrong about a lot of things." For the far-right, everything must be an extreme, and they honestly think that "liberals" - progressives - mirror their own hatred and ignorance.
Right-wingers hate gays, so "obviously" progressives must "love gays and consider them better than straight people."
Right-wingers hate non-whites, so "obviously" progressives must "want to get rid of white people."
Right-wingers hate Muslims, so "obviously" progressives must "think Islam is the bestest religion ever."
Right-wingers deny science and climate change, so "obviously" progressives must "want to kill humanity to save a tree" or some crap.
Those on the far-right are unable to see outside of their own narrow, spiteful window on life, and they really do think that "the enemy" - progressives - are just comical, mirror-universe caricatures of themselves. They probably also think we all have goatees, too.
They don't get it. Progressives don't think gays, Muslims, or blacks are "better" - we just don't give a damn about a person's religion, skin color, or sexuality provided they aren't using it as a weapon to abuse others. And, since right-wingers do that crap all the time, that is why we oppose them.
No one has denied that, what was denied is that he was a hero ot the left. .

Never heard of the guy, but looked it up and what he said was that he is horrified by the human toll but not the oil industry toll because he blames them for driving the climate change that is resulting in more extreme weather events.
I don't see what is particularly so incendiary here. He didn't claim that the disaster is God's payback for accepting gays, like a number of your conservative heroes will say next CA earthquake.
