But this is no isolated incident. Quite the contrary: this has happened over and over and over again. Inflammatory claims about Russia get mindlessly hyped by media outlets, almost always based on nothing more than evidence-free claims from government officials, only to collapse under the slightest scrutiny, because they are entirely lacking in evidence.

Last week the story came out that the Russians attempted to hack the US voting systems. This week states have come forward to refute those claims. More fake news.

The propaganda media say that his administration is plagued by scandals... I guess it doesn't matter if the scandals are true or false.

Except it is virtually every senator and congressman that say so. Be it GOP or Dem. Your explanation? First clue. The media did not invent or create the Russian meddling story.

No. It was basically all of the intelligence agencies. Of course you can disagree with them and the UJ.S. miltitary. Not very patriotic but you can take that stance.

M

The agencies said they "tried to interfere". They didn't say they changed votes or swung the entire election to Trump like the libs claim

They are plagued by scandals and no evidence indicating they're false. The HHS secretary just got fired over a major scandal and 4 other secretaries are at risk of going over it too.

No. No one is making that claim. And whether Russia was successful or not will not change any collusion charges they may file. Doesn't matter if you were successful in knocking over the bank just that you tried.

Understand now?

taht started after the clintons released information to the media. there was the fake dossier that was created by a former MI6 agent, who gave it to the clintons, but the media would not touch it, though some of the intelligence agencies did buy into it, and then the media did, sort of.

I couldn't open the link in the original post but found another story with lots of information here, including quotes from the Associated Press and CA's Sec. of State:

3 CNN journalists “resigned” over a completely false story linking Trump adviser Anthony Scaramucci to investigations into a Russian investment fund which the network was forced to retract.
Remember that time the Washington Post claimed that Russia had hacked the U.S. electricity grid, causing politicians to denounce Putin for trying to deny heat to Americans in winter, only to have to issue multiple retractions because none of that ever happened?

Or the time that the Post had to publish a massive editor’s note after its reporters made claims about Russian infiltration of the internet and spreading of “Fake News” based on an anonymous group’s McCarthyite blacklist that counted sites like the Drudge Report and various left-wing outlets as Kremlin agents?

Or that time when Slate claimed that Trump had created a secret server with a Russian bank, all based on evidence that every other media outlet which looked at it were too embarrassed to get near?

Or the time the Guardian was forced to retract its report by Ben Jacobs – which went viral – that casually asserted that WikiLeaks has a long relationship with the Kremlin? Or the time that Fortune retracted suggestions that RT had hacked into and taken over C-SPAN’s network?

And then there’s the huge market that was created – led by leading Democrats – that blindly ingested every conspiratorial, unhinged claim about Russia churned out by an army of crazed conspiracists such as Louise Mensch and Claude “TrueFactsStated” Taylor?

And now we have the Russia-hacked-the-voting-systems-of-21-states to add to this trash heap.

Each time the stories go viral; each time they further shape the narrative; each time those who spread them say little to nothing when it is debunked.
