She wasn't leaving him; she told police she was afraid he was leaving her.

Mind-controlled is my best guess; either that or working in concert willingly with others for whatever reason.

This "mystery woman" with whom he was seen and with whom he dined could've been his handler.

Certainly not "a lone crazy person," which is what they want us to believe...

And I don't for one minute think he was the only shooter (if he even shot at all; most likely he was killed before it began.

Where is the sheriff lately (all I've seen is the deputy); did they get rid of him for spilling the beans that one time? :P

He injured 500 and killed 58. Was that even going to be good enough for him?

They stopped him in his room before he could take out more. Cameras on the room service cart? Cameras in the room to film his death when the police broke in? 50 pounds of explosives in his car that would explode if he was shot at by police? Neurotic maybe? What the heck was wrong with this guy? His hell bent attitude by strategically planning everything in great detail, sealing it by sending his girlfriend away, and sending her a large amount of money.
He stopped shooting after 10 minutes despite having more than enough ammunition to continue.
The unarmed security guard responded to a smoke alarm 3 minutes later. The cameras on the room service table in the hallway alerted the shooter, who responded with 200 rounds through the door.

Why did he stop shooting at the crowds, below?

His handler?

The mystery woman was identified. She is an escort/ prostitute. Not uncommon for some high rollers to have professional escorts. It's a casino perk.

Mind control?

Multiple shooters?

Dead before the shooting began?

Sheriff wasted?

Why is it so challenging to believe someone could have planned this on his own of his own free will?
Certainly looked like he intended to kill as many as possible from an advantageous location. Thinking the Mandalay offered the best opportunity to do so given he was a frequent guest and high roller there.

Or achieve the distinction of being the perpetrator of the largest mass shooting, in modern times.

A power trip.

For starters, every casino I've ever been to requires an ID to get it. Then there are cameras everywhere. So why everyone is acting like this is a "mystery woman" is beyond me. And if she truly is a "mystery woman," why haven't they released photos of her from the camera system asking people to identify her?

Have I missed some breaking news or something?
The woman was identified. She is a professional escort/ prostitute. Chances are the casino arranged for her time, given his high roller status. Reportedly he gambled 8 hours straight, the night before the big event.

This reservation was likely made months before the event, given it's proximity to the event. He was planning something spectacular for quite some time.

The arrangement between the two of them could have been one of mutual convenience- more like a business arrangement.

Most of the spectacular mass shootings are not spontaneous events. These killers plan and rehearse.
OK, but none of what you have said negates the possibility that she was indeed leaving him and that was what triggered his plan.

If it was a rocky/abusive relationship she could have been threatening/trying to leave for some time.

Rage doesn't have to be acted out spontaneously. Some people can be driven by rage and yet still act in a cold and calculated way.

What I have read is that he stopped shooting because the security guard interrupted him.

By the time he dealt with the security guard the crowd below had dispersed to the point that weren't people left to shoot.

It could simply be that he hated crappy music.

How dare you ask questions. The Gestapo will be on you - labeling you "as bad as the shooter" - in no time.

That does not appear to be the way it actually happened. We will eventually unsnarl all the time lines but the security guy who got shot was on the floor over an open door a few doors down from the perp's suite.

Apparently he was unaware of what was going on until fired on by the perp. He then called the cops to report being shot at and where. This is in the same time frame as the cop in the room underneath hearing the auto fire.
