The concert shooting in Paris had a much bigger death count and France has much tougher gun laws then the United States. Anyone that really tries can go onto the dark web right now and buy illegal fully automatic weapons much more easily then they can legally obtain anything through a gun store. Further restricting law abiding citizens rights doesn't accomplish anything other then taking away more freedom

$5 for a background check -- what kind of background check is that?
No way no how a five dollar background check will turn up the kind of information that is important.
LOL, in this day and age when a cop can bring up your entire record while sitting in his patrol car? This is the government we are talking about here with access to vast amount of information about you.
PA has their own database of criminals, it's checked against that, the federal one and a few others.
Should the NRA be able to give donations to political candidates? I don't think so. They are a highly organized lobby for a business. They aren't about gun safety and education. They are about selling guns. We all know that. Yes they could play a really important role in gun safety, education, working with govt. but right now they are just lobbyists.
They are probably going to have to get more involved in the areas of gun ownership which you mentioned. IF they are to be of help in keeping guns legal in the US.
You do not want a unarmed citizendry in this country , in the "current year". There are factions at work in this country who know how, and will take advantage of unarmed citizens....and it is not the common criminal element of which I speak...nor drug gangs, or street thugs....but true enemies of the state, of the USA. They are behind all the divide and conquer NGO games and movements. They thrive on hate, hate, HATE! They do NOT want all the citizens of the US to get along and work together...that would screw up their world order "plans".
I hate to say this..but Houston during Harvey could have become Detroit 5.0 if not for a well armed citizenry. And of course, those generous souls coming in from Louisiana to help Houston...they lived thru NOLA and their hurricanes...they KNOW what could go down.
Thank God for the Cajun Navy...Johnny Rebels at their best ( Johnny Rebels who represent both Democrats and Republicans working together for a common purpose..too bad our politicians cannot accomplish this feat)
Pssst, and while you weren't looking, the State Police also have access to your driver's license---you know, the permit that allows you to drive a car. Car use is regulated, you see. We have to take tests to be able to drive a car.
I don't have Constitutional right to a drivers license.

The average internet user doesn't even know how to access the dark web, let alone make purchases of an illegal weapon on it. An average internet user trying to purchase something illegal on the dark web is likely to be the victim of fraud and/or have their identity stolen by people far more clever than he is.

Yeah, yeah everyone says that. My point is that one could make the case that a driver's license is even more vital to being able to function in society, i.e. keep a job, have mobility, chauffeur the kids--than having a gun. And we all willingly accept rather strict controls on our ability to obtain and keep a driver's license.
I always have an issue with folks who think that in a time of crisis - their ability to arm themsleves will save them and their family. Okay -- someone breaking into your house maybe but this situation in Vegas --
or at any mass shooting where chaos ensues -- I think it would be more harmful than beneficial.
