ANWR encompasses 19 MILLION acres, which is roughly 5 1/2 times the area of the state of Connecticut. They are talking about drilling on a maximum of 2000 acres, or .01% of it. And the area they are looking to develop is the barren plain near the Arctic Ocean, not the pretty mountains the LWNJs like to show. This has overwhelming support of the people of Alaska. With 99.99% of ANWR untouched, liberals will have plenty of icecubes left.
It's just a shame that liberals are unable to ever tell the truth about any issue. I have to wonder if they are ignorant or just deceitful.
There is NOTHING there. But CNN will, for the next few weeks, show beautiful trees, landscapes, moose, polar bears and penguins. (keep in mind no penguins live there, but CNN knows it's viewers are stupid, and basically so are the CNN producers). There will be an outcry about the environment, all the while, the biggest voices will be flying to and fro in polluting airplanes, heating both (or more) of their homes, driving their Escalades, watching their Plasmas, (3 at a time). Where do these people believe energy comes from...Oh that's right, the electrical outlet.
Let the $$$$ start flowing. Looks like after some shed lib tears, a few fruitless lawsuits and couple of dead caribou later the drilling will finally be a go. Let's just hope that it's as big or bigger than they say it will be. MAGA.
The $$$$ flowing from any wells will line the pockets of CEOs in Texas, Oklahoma, Chicago, New York, et cetera. You will never see any sort of personal gain from the oil such as lower prices at the pump, since it will be sold overseas to the highest bidder. If you aren't way up the food chain in Big Oil, I don't see how this is something to be celebrated.
They would. Most of them believe Jesus is coming back soon to destroy the earth so there is no point in preserving anything. It's the same reason they don't believe in climate change.
It's beyond angering that we have now a fundamentalist apocalyptic death cult in complete and total control over the US.
The federal government, in cahoots with the oil companies, has already opened 95% of Alaska's coast for drilling. Basically, back in the 60s, the federal government just stole the land from Alaskan natives and auctioned it off for private profit to domestic and international oil companies. With nowhere else to go, the native peoples were then forced to become part of the oil economy--which took over their villages-- and driven into extreme poverty. Now the oil companies and their governmental henchmen want to take that last 5%. Nothing is enough for these sociopaths. Oil drilling is a 19th-century industry, but has been kept alive for decades, at the expense of developing alternative energy, so that they could fill their pockets with misery and money.
Some Americans, like Theodore Roosevelt, actually love their country. Not just the jingoistic idea of America, but the actual country: its magnificent lands and waters and wildlife. We know that if we don't protect it, the international corporate oil cartel, with the blessings of the bought-off GOP and their idiotic voter base, will destroy every last inch of it for private profit. The Republicans don't love America, couldn't care less about it: for them, everything and everyone is reduced to an economic unit. And if destroying their own country, destroying its glory and the people and animals that depend on its wildlands for survival, will stick it to the "libruls," they're on board. Utterly clueless.
Theodore Roosevelt was a Republican.
