Some people build up; others tear down. An unforgiving spirit will never prosper. I am really sad for some of you. You are causing yourself trouble and don't even know it. You listen to nothing that is right and good. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Cast not thy pearls upon swine.
Ann entire war was fought but you learned nothing but you choose to keep blaming because of your guilt in the situation. Yes the war was the fault of the north and no it was not a necessary war. It was the north bullying the south because you were jealous of our prosperity. Years later many are moving here because we have a better life than you. Jealousy is a terrible thing. We were better then and we are better now and we always will be because we don't try to take advantage of others and choose to do for ourselves and others.
You were prosperous because you used slaves to do your work for you. You refused to allow those ex-slaves to hold political office or own their own farms after The North freed them from your barbarism. You castrated, lynched and slaughtered them en masse to prevent them from being human, and made sure to erect statues of their oppressors to ensure they never forgot what happened to them.
But keep telling yourself "we don't try to take advantage of others and choose to do for ourselves and others".

And never forget - a goodly portion of those slaves were relatives of their owners. So southerners fought a war to protect the "rights" of those who sold their own children, their half-brothers and -sisters, their nieces, nephews, cousins... I don't know how anyone could think that is something to take pride in.
Are you going to include the statues of the northern heroes too. Just another broken promise to the people in the south. In my opinion there is nothing lower than to bad mouth another person's ancestors. That is the meanest thing; low class and rotten. I am embarrassed for everyone on this thread that is calling our ancestors names. You really need to think about what you are doing. Our country needs to be brought together; not separated by hatred. Takes an awful lot of hate to take your anger out on a statue. You are nothing but a bunch of bullies. I am not talking about your ancestors; I'm talking about you. Our ancestors are just as honorable as yours.
And if slavery is what you are talking about, the first court case making a man a slave was brought by a black man. Slavery stopped in the south with the end of the war. The people in the north owned slaves beyond that time. How hypocritical can you get? Bully for you. You have just shown again why there was a war in the first place. You get to have voter I.D. in your states. We get to have northerners shipped in to vote with no voter I. D. in our state.
When do you think the punishment of southerners should stop. The war of northern aggression was 150 years ago and you are still spreading your hatred. You really need to get over it and realize it was part of the history of this country. You are destroying statues of your own country's history. Enjoy yourselves while we prosper.
I cannot rep you anymore but if I could I would. Not sure I could say this better than you already have. These PC social justice warriors and socialist keep up thier assault on us we may very well get a “do over” on the war. This time we won’t call it the War of Northern Agression but The War of Overwhelming Southern Victory. We would whoop em good this time, they are weak and the only think they know how to do is whine, complain, protest and riot. Should Dixie ever stand up again they will be runnin for momma and the safe spaces. I have no tolerance what so ever for these people, thier attemp to erase history and bad mouth the South. Let’s not forget they are the same people pushing immoral lifestyles, atheism, socialism, gun confiscations, controls on free speech and other freedom hating beliefs and behaviors. These leftists are nothing short of enemies of America as a whole not just the south.

No, just the ones of traitorous leaders who tried to tear our nation apart.
The fact that we had a civil war at all shows the nation wasn't united in the first place. It wasn't really united at it's founding and it still isnt. Also, Lincoln was as racist as anyone else of the era. He flat out said blacks shouldn't be the equals of whites. Lincoln simply didn't want to lose the southern states for whatever reason (politics, economic, ego, who knows).
Think about how much happier we would all be now if the South had been allowed to secede. None of this constant political bickering. Slavery would have shortly ended anyway due to economic reasons, and if the north were really concerned about the free blacks they could have taken them as refugees. Both the north and south could live in peace under the principal of self-determination instead of being forced to live with another political and cultural half we utterly despise.

I do not agree with this at all. You are correct that the Civil War was not a necessary war - because there was nothing that absolutely forced South Carolina to secede after Lincoln was elected. I strongly believe it was the South that started the war. It is almost certain that the South would had fared a lot better if the Civil War never occurred and they had given Lincoln a chance.
Because in reality they never gave Lincoln a chance. Seven of the Deep South states, South Carolina followed by Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas all left the Union BEFORE Lincoln took office.

That is a very good question of why they fought to keep "the union" . America seems more and more like the European "union", we are as divided now as were back then I am sure.
The civil war was very much a war about taxes and economics, many in the north deeply resented the domination of the south. Southerners provided the nations founding father, for the most part wrote the declaration of independence and the constitution, and absolutely dominated the presidency, 9 of the first 12 presidents were from the south. So much of the anti south sentiment was about the souths power and hatred of the power of the aristocracy, not hatred of slavery.
Every problem we have in this country started with the "union" and this idea of a massive central government and the civil war started the real age of American expansion and imperialism , and ended our founding fathers idea of a loosely bound confederation of states.
From the Spanish American war,to imperialist ventures all around the globe to Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan and on and on. Our founding fathers warned about foreign alliances unless in time of war, they warned about imperialism and treaties bounding us into war, they didnt even want a standing army and now we have 800 bases all around the world and so many treaties to get us into war.
Like pat buchanan said
"While our first president said in his Farewell Address that we might “trust to temporary alliances” in extraordinary emergencies, he added, “It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world.”
Alliances, Washington believed, were transmission belts of war. Yet no nation in history has handed out so many war guarantees to so many “allies” on so many continents, as has the United States."

Statues that commemorate hate and treason are harmful to the citizens that their hate inspired violence affected.. Why are white conservatives the main group that support these symbols of hate?? Why can't white conservatives as a group do the right thing for once??
Everyone with even an ounce of common sense understands that symbols of hate aren't appropriate outside of a museum type environment. In Germany you don't see monuments to Hitler or the Nazis. In South Africa you don't see monuments to Apartheid. In Italy you don't see monuments to Benito Mussolini. But in our country the American conservative refuses to stop fighting for a lost cause... Why is that?
Further to your response, I'd like to ADD that most if NOT ALL Statues or Plaques are put to " COMMEMORATE SOMEONE or SOMETHING ~~ that is WORTH the praise of a NATION... Certainly NOT to uplift and remember the ones WHO brought SHAME to that Nation!!
Definitions~~
VERB
recall and show respect for (someone or something) in a ceremony:
"a wreath-laying ceremony to commemorate the war dead"
serve as a memorial to:
"a stone commemorating a boy who died at sea"
celebrate (an event, a person, or a situation) by doing or building something:
"it was a night commemorated in a song"
synonyms: celebrate · pay tribute to · pay homage to · honor · salute · toast · remember · recognize · acknowledge · observe · mark
Point is~~ HISTORICALLY Negative Figures should be put in Museums for those who want to learn HISTORY... It's also noted that these statutes for these Confederates actually exploded during the " Jim Crow Era" time line~~ The Real Story Behind All Those Confederate Statues – Mother Jones
Quote:
1861-1865: Civil War.
1865-1875: Reconstruction Era.
1875-1895: Reconstruction Era ends. Lynchings skyrocket. Blacks are steadily disenfranchised, allowing Southern whites to enact Jim Crow laws. In 1896, Jim Crow is cemented into place when the Supreme Court rules it constitutional.
1895-1915: With blacks disenfranchised and Jim Crow laws safely in place, Southern whites continue their campaign of terror against blacks. This era features continued lynchings, the growing popularity of “Lost Cause” revisionist histories, a resurgence of white supremacy organizations like the KKK, and the erection of Confederate statues and monuments in large numbers.
1915-1955: Jim Crow reigns safely throughout the South.
1955-1970: The civil rights era starts after the Supreme Court rules in Brown v. Board of Education that Jim Crow laws are unconstitutional. Southern whites mount massive and violent resistance, and start putting up Confederate monuments again.

the same time we start renaming all MLK roads to something else you might have a point, right now you have nothing but nonsensical whining
Yes, we should take down all monuments to MLK and see how they like that.
