No shortage of opportunities in the healthcare delivery system.

Nursing is one of the fasted growing occupations in the US and the world. It's all about the aging population which includes nurses with decades of experience aging out.

The shortage is acute in some geographical areas and sign on bonuses are common recruiting tools in areas with the greatest need.

Most nurses in hospitals work three 12 hour shifts a week.

Most hospitals offer tuition reimbursement and many pursue graduate degrees which enables specialization and unlimited opportunities.

Community colleges are increasingly aligning with 4 year schools to enable more qualified applicants to earn more affordable degrees.

The "top" 360 or so of them, yes. The name schools that the kids are urged to apply to.

The largest differential Dem voter demographic is those who never finished high school: 64% Dem voters, 35% GOP voters.

https://ropercenter.cornell.edu/poll...ps-voted-2012/

Similarly, income is correlated with education level. 2/3 of those on public assistance (various programs) are Dem voters. There are actually statistics on that. They haven't yet figured out that it's in the Dems' best interest to keep them poor and therefore dependent on the government. It's the only way Dems can win elections and try to keep some semblance of political power.

Chart at the link via an Iranian-Swedish economist, MA in Economics from Stockholm University, PhD in Public Policy from the University of Chicago:

Data source:

And even worse, it's minorities who are very disproportionately kept poor.

Now that Dem voters understand that you're supporting the maintenance and growth of a perpetually poor underclass that MUST be kept poor in order to keep most of them voting Dem, will you all still go along with that?

It certainly helped my career in commercial finance.
I'm sure my son will benefit- he wants to go into mechanical engineering with a minor in materials engineering.
My daughter wants to go into nuerological science, so yeah I guess that's important too.

Quite simply, many of the people going to college would never have made it in under more stringent admission standards.

No, too many people are going to college *for the wrong majors*.

And yes, if given the chance to do it all over again, I would. College has benefited me greatly (but I also chose an in-demand career field).

There does seem to be a definite war on people educating themselves. Makes sense. How do you peddle nonsense if people are educated and smart and can think for themselves. This administration NEEDS people who don't know any better.......they got it.

Every County College(CC) should offer the top 10 or so STAND ALONE bachelors degrees as measured by EMPLOYER requirements. IE a degree that leads directly to employment and does not require an advanced degree to be more than a big box store supervisor. The sole directive should be "prepare people to contribute a higher value to potential employers" Further the degree shall read, "State University of [State]" or "University of [State]" and be indistinguishable and have the same requirements of the main campus degree.

Those wanting passion degrees like gender or ethnic studies can attend universities but we have far too many of them.

Sample list of stand alone bach degrees:
ME
EE
CE
ACT
MGT
RN
Teacher
Network Engineer

etc.

Absolutely. I look forward to going back for another degree after I retire, too.

ETA: it’s funny because I come from a long line of tradesman, and not a single one of them ever encouraged their kids to go into the trades. They all said the same thing: “Work with your mind, not your back. Don’t bust up your body like I do; invest in yourself and go to college.”
