These are lines from a poem written in 1883, 107 years after the Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence. I wonder how many are, like this congressman, so indoctrinated that they actually believe The New Colossus describes "the foundational principle of our country"?

They are condemned by their own meme: we don't want those who desire entry that are NOT yearning to be free.

A poem on the Statue of Liberty should not be confused with immigration policy.

Looks like the French tried to set us up for failure with a poem they can't abide by in their own country.

France is expected to debate a tougher bill on asylum and immigration in early 2018. Bredin says she’s apprehensive but that the government needs to give a clear message. “People have risked their lives to come here,” she said. “We can’t take everyone – France has its own share of problems, including homelessness … but even if it’s a hard policy, it needs to be clear.”

Only a dumb cluck from CNN would refer to an exerpt of a poem, at the base of a statue erected in 1886, as "a founding principle" of the U.S.
