Well here is another salvo in the assault on public unions specifically and unions in general. What may happen here is that a non union member may be able to enjoy union benefits without paying union dues.

Any group that uses violence to gain money and benefits from another should be shut down.

I, for one, will not shed a tear, the day the unions disappear.

Ha! I am a poet, and did not know it.

Unions are great. Public unions should be banned.

Why should I be forced to pay union dues to work a government job?

It's called "Fair share". It's been around for years. They don't get represented personally, but are for union negotiations.

In fact, this is a matter of a union that wants to pry money away from non-members, who don't want anything to do with the organization. Non-members of unions don't always benefit from concessions that are negotiated by them with employers.

I worked for a private business that union agitators had bullied into accepting them. Those of us in our part of the company that did not join the union, not only had to pay dues to them, but they had made a crooked deal with the company, that caused us to take a 3% cut in pay. This was because of a cancelled profit-sharing program, that affected only our non-union side.

Don't work a government job. A person should know what he's getting himself into.

You shouldn't, nor should anyone. I think it criminal that anyone is forced to pay a tithe to a union while not a member.
